Round 2

Montiel is patiently stringing together power punches two and three at a time while Peralta uses the ring and shells up. Peralta is trapped on the ropes and swings from the hips to get out, getting tagged on the chin but landing a bit himself - enough to escape. Double jab from Montiel gets Peralta to lift his gloves and expose his body, leading to a hard right hand from Montiel landing in the gut. Peralta swats with reckless abandon as he is again trapped on the ropes, alternately looping to the side and swinging overhead with both hands. Montiel walks him down with the straight 1-2 and occasional ripping hook to the body. Peralta lands a reacharound right to the body of Montiel at the bell.

Well that explains why Montiel looks better than his 3-3 record suggests - he's hooked up with Nacho Beristain!

Round 3

Montiel controlling with his jab. Peralta is shy with power punches now, trying not to leave himself open to the shorter straight counters. Peralta flicks his jab which Montiel allows to bounce off him unconcerned. Huge body shot by Montiel, with Peralta wincing but not backing off. Peralta is now hooking desperately whenever in range but missing. Montiel is shoveling both fists into the underside of Peralta and catching flesh every time.

Round 4

Peralta whipping shots from out of range now, leading with a wild hook and bringing an overhand right behind it. Peralta is hanging back enough to avoid them and then rushing in to tattoo Peralta as he's resetting. They clinch and Peralta hits Montiel in his cut brow. Montiel looks a bit weathered. They nearly clinch again but Montiel bangs out with a pair of right hands and keeps Peralta away. Montiel darts in with a 1-2 and gets away before Peralta can counter. Two-fisted body assault by Montiel. Suddenly Peralta catches him circling lazily with a 1-2 of his own! Montiel backs off, then batters Peralta into the ropse with a five punch combo. Peralta slips some shots and then jabs at Montiel.

I was just thinking about giving the round to Peralta. Sheridan's doing the same, apparently.
