I rarely see Marquez clinch, does this just show how skilled he is?

yes. He is amazing at staying in the pocket within countering range and not getting touched as much as he should.

clinching is illegal and should be banned.

It would make the sport alot more interesting.

How much more exciting are fights when no clinching is involved

Poor John Ruiz would have been nothing if there was such a rule lol..

Fighters get incredibly exhausted or when shook up, exceptionally unsteady and making clinching illegal would be too harsh. Excessive clinching, yes I agree

He rather stay in the pocket and counter you... it's more effective but not everyone is good at inside fighting Marquez is just a beast like that...

I think it's the Beristain school. If you see Rafael Marquez, JMM, Ricardo Lopez, all don't clinch.

most mexicans dont clinch.... its the warrior spirit in them.... they get hurt and come right back with their own punch.

I've always like that about Marquez. Even when he got hurt or kd he would stand back up and still fight back.:bbb

Pretty much all fighters except for black fighters and heavyweights don't clinch.

He has great technical infighting, when you think of infighting sluggers like Brandon Rios come to mind but Marquez is able to stay on the inside and box beautifully. Thats one thing I love about him, he keeps a cool head the entire time.
