You have to take in mind marquez was chasing pac and felt gbp wanted to use him as a steppingstone for Khan, khan matches up well vs marquez stylistically. Its not weird he choose a different path.

Marquez fought pac three ****ing times and had to wait much longer than he wanted to in order to do so.

Marquez did not ****ing duck khan. Khan is with golden boy, JMM was but JMM had to sign with arum if he wanted that pac fight so thats what he did

The Khan-Marquez stuff happened before Marquez left GBP.

Anyway, nobody can say he ducked Khan anyway. He was hunting that 3rd fight with Pacquiao at the time. If he was after an easy fight instead of fighting Khan then you could say it was ducking but to opt out of a fight to fight the guy considered #1 P4P (while moving up) isn't ducking to me.

It did nothing for him. In the end he was proved right. Fried bigger fish.

Are you serious? He chases around the p4p best fighter in the world and is even willing to go up in weight to fight him, but you believe he is scared of Khan?

If he's not fighting Pac there's no need for him to fight another opponent. He's 38yrs old and has done very well for himself through out his career. If it's not Pac Marquez should just retire.

I agree. Marquez has no need fighting young guns looking to make a name for themselves.

I see three opponents out there for Marquez from or near his era.

    Pac, Morales, and Soto.

    Those three fights make sense.
He should seek those fights and ride off into the sunset feeling good about his accomplishments in the ring.

Actually one more fight aside those three I'd like Marquez to take.
Shane Mosley.......if Mosley has a fight first against a good opponent and looks good in winning.

I said this even before Mosley lost to Pacquiao. Mosely is an opponent I feel is made to order for Marquez. Though Mosley is much bigger, Marquez immense skills offset that weight difference.
I honestly feel Marquez brutalizes Mosley and stops him before the late rounds arrive.

If a win over a young gun wouldn't do anything for his legacy, a win over a shot name would do even less. He'd likely beat Mosley , yes, but I don't think Mosley will ever perform well enough again to make a fight like that sellable. Guys that are at the top of the division like Khan, Rios, and Bradley have much more to give Marquez in terms of legacy and monetary reward than fighting someone like Mosley at this point.

Do you think Shane is shot? And are you basing a JMM victory over shane because of this?
