The fourth fight doesn't need to take place atleast not until PBF-Pac does first.

Mayweather's own reps said they wanted to make the Pacquiao fight. Plus Shaefer and Ellerbe reached out to start negotiations and Top Rank turned it down. The former judge and mediator emailed them. Manny doesn't want Floyd and neither does Arum. We know why too. That 38 yr old pure boxer Marquez was timing his ass and putting it on him. What will Mayweather do? Destroy his ass.

Does that also make it a no win situation for floyd? if he wins people will claim he waited for him to slow down or that he was supposed to beat him anyway? By that logic pac beating marquez clearly then losing to floyd is better for floyd, with the risk of it being close/loss again and then what you said happens.
I dont think it would be lose/lose he would gain some credit but not as much as before, regardless of what happens that ship has sailed.
Do you consider martinez 154 or pac 147 at this moment to be a better fight for floyds legacy? I think it has to be smm at the moment.

I just hope marquez doesn't agree with another 4rth pac fight whatever the amount of money there is, wouldn't want him to retire since he can still make history. I don't want him fighting pac to leave pac and his team no other option than floyd. If pac doesn't do floyd then he is the bigger duck between the two of them clearly by now, anything else disagree with it is not a boxing fan but a full blown pacturd

    I disagree.

He can correct it, and he will deserve credit for it (as we now all know, JMM is not past it). If he struggles with him, he'll look no worse than he already is. Not to mention, the Pac-May fight already losing bit of shine after Sat night, anyway. So, the Mayweather fight isn't going anywhere. The May 5th date was a never a sure thing, and more than likely, it was going to take place after when Arum/May/Schaefer were done milking the public for one more fight for each guy (Bradley and Khan were very likely at one point).

The funniest thing about this thread is the *******s trying to justify Pac-JMM 4 and how they will say anything to prevent PBF-Pac from taking place. It's clear as day they want nothing to do with Pac fighting PBF and there can only be one reason why that is.

    Juan Manuel Marquez 17.8%
    Sergio Martinez 3.3%
    Timothy Bradley 2.3%
    Cotto-Margarito winner 1.1%

The fans have spoken. Oh yeah, thats right. Bob Arum has said "**** the fans" on more than one occasion.

He can't correct it. He's had 3 fights and he's set in his ways. JMM is a bad match up for him and won't play his game. He's too technical and too smart for Pac. Pac can't deal with boxers the caliber of JMM.

Every fight for Mayweather is a no win situation. He's extremely talented and extremely disliked. He's always expected to win and people are all too willing to minimize his accomplishments. It didn't matter when he fought Pac. The people who don't like him would find fault with the win somehow. And beating Manny at 147 would definitely do more for Mayweather than beating Martinez at 154. Pac is a future HOFer. Martinez is just some guy who has a little buzz right now.

I don't believe so. Mayweather has continuously downplayed Khan, and he and his people have told anyone that listen that Pacquiao is the guy they wanted next. Unlike Pacquiao, Mayweather actually got blamed for the fight not happening. Mayweather was the one being called a coward and having his entire career questioned. He has a ton of motivation for making this fight happen. I can't say the same for Pacquiao. People seemed content with him fighting guys Mayweather already beat. The fight is there if Pacquiao wants it. Or, he can go fight Marquez again even though most fans would rather see him fight Mayweather. He claims he fights for the people. Maybe that's a lie though, just like his claims of itchy socks, leg cramps, and being weakened for several days from having a tablespoon of blood taken.

JMM won't retire. Not after Saturday. He's not only made a case for ANOTHER rematch with PAC... but also a potential rematch with Floyd. I have to admit Juan looked like a solid Welter who was able to keep up with and best the best or ONE of the best Welters in the game today.

The money is going to be the main factor in getting a 4th fight with PAC or a rematch with Floyd. That's a lot of paper! JMM is the ONLY fighter in position to realistically have a strong chance to fight not just one of the top draws int he sport but BOTH.

But.....if JMM did retire... PAC would be left with Floyd and I don't think he'll avoid him like Floyd has PAC. The good news is after PAC getting a favorable decision in his close fight with Juan....Floyd won't be too hard in getting a commitment to fight Manny. I think Floyd feels he'll humiliate Manny. I'd love to see him try.
