Floyd is a former welterweight champ who's fighting a lightweight champ while pac is a former lightweight champ who fought a lineal junior welter weight champ. I don't know why I just said that.
Marquez has a chance. Here's why: 1. Mayweather has been out of the game for a while, he has been out of "serious competition for even longer. By "serious competition" I mean fighting to "be the best", fighting with hunger for legacy and not just star power. His fight with Hatton? Hatton was tailor made for him, let's be honest. Hatton looks great against average fighters (kind of) but he is not hard to beat for the elite fighters. 2. Marquez is too smart and too good to fall into Floyds traps. 3. Marquez is better then anyone Floyd has ever faced. FACT. 4. Floyd has become cocky and now that he's fighting a guy he probably doesn't think can hurt him, he will be more cocky. 5. Floyd is gonna try and make a statement here and prove he's better then Pac, he may over extend his aspirations and make a mistake. All that being said, I'm picking Floyd by late TKO or UD. But would not be surprised at all if he is outboxed and loses a decision.
Though I see what you're saying, if Floyd does start to lose rounds by looking to impress and being too cocky he will get told straight by unca rogar and will get his head back in the game. Marquez may be the best boxer Floyd has faced but can he even hurt Floyd? Floyd has faced Oscar's punches at 154. A blownup lightweight isn't going to trouble him too much. Plus, can Marquez take Floyd's power, which had Oscar's respect at 154? Power and durability are great equalisers. Even with Marquez's skills I can't see this being anything like close after the first couple of rounds. Once Mayweather shakes off the rust he will systematically beat on Marquez like the guy stole from him.
He looks smaller next to PBF because PBF is still weighing around 160 lbs these days and JMM is still trying to bulk up. Come fight time, they will both look equally sized.
I did include my prediction of a Floyd late TKO or UD so I'm not gonna disagree with you. Good points. Keep in mind though: Floyd took Oscars shots, but Oscar was struggling to land clean and when he did he didn't really have full leverage (mostly, please don't post a gif of Oscar landing, for the most part Floyd kept him flailing at nothing and landing slappy punches). Oscar is definitely more powerful then JMM. But Timing and Accuracy can be much more dangerous then power in the boxing ring. And JMM is a master at accuracy, timing and footwork. He will hit Floyd clean, with his feet under him. Then we'll see how Floyd handles this. :deal
im giving JMM a shot at this, his accuracy is scary, its on par with joy's and his ring iq is probably second to none (maybe floyd), plus he isn't one of those fighters who fights one way the entire fight, just like floyd he adjusts to his opponent.
