No disrespect but at the weightclass that is being discussed for the Marquez/Mayweather bout Marquez will get pounded.I can't believe people think Marquez will beat Mayweather. As talented as Mayweather is I still think he picks and chooses his opponents too much.I bet you never see Mayweather in the ring with Paul Williams or Cotto.
remember when oscar dropped in weight for his last fight, and his opponent moved up 2 classes... need i say more?
And how old was Oscar when he dropped in weightclass? And how many years was he past his peak?JM is startting to decline NOW.Its not like hes at the top of his game now or just entering his prime.
:roll:Here is a guy (Mayweather) touted as P4P best, weightclass champion and still picking on those little guys. As mentioned, until he steps up against fighters like Cotto and Williams he isn't interesting.
So you want him to stop picking on smaller guys yet, you find it perfectly okay for him to fight bigger guys in Cotto and Williams?
He has been in the same weight class as Cotto for years now. Marquez is having to jump the best part of 2 divisions for this fight. I think you're the only guy on ESB who doesn't acknowledge this.
So? He's still small compared to Cotto and Williams. The size difference from Mayweather to Cotto is greater than Mayweather to Marquez.
I think Mayweather and Cotto are closer in size because they have been fighting in the same division for years and are fully acclimatized to fighting the same size of opponents. I do not think Mayweather and Marquez are as close in size because Marquez has only had 2 fights above 130, and Mayweather fights at 147 and has fought at 154 - therefore Marquez is not acclimatized in any way to fighting a comparable size of opponents. But as a Floyd fan, you disagree with me, 90% of ESB posters, and apparently Floyd Mayweather Jr himself. Go on son!
Floyd gave up more pounds than many thought he would. Agreeing to 143 is noteworthy. He hasn't been that low since Gatti, 4 years ago. Not that he couldn't make 140, but he could put himself at a disadvantage going that low and he isn't willing to do that.
