Couple of things to take from this.
    1. Maidana's 1st pair of gloves were bad. Was he trying to cheat? Or were the gloves just worn out?
    2. There IS a significant difference in the two gloves per Juan Manuel Marquez.
    3. Mayweather, for whatever reason, STILL had an issue with the 2nd approved pair. Was it fear? Was it lack of trust after the 1st pair?

If the first pair was used, thats not right. You cant or at least shouldnt reuse any gloves for high level matches. (actual rules vary, IIRC most if not all sanctioning bodies require factory sealed gloves for sanctioned title/eliminator bouts)

Yes there is a big difference. Most fighters who break their hand in bouts are using MX. Grant punchers gloves are much better, but I think Maidana has an endorsement contract with Everlast. Otherwise he would just use the same gloves GGG does, and since Floyd uses Grant he wouldnt be able to say anything. (Floyd uses the theraputic style glove to protect his hands better)

Floyd was just jockying for advantage with the other MX. Just typical games that Floyd always plays, and honestly, many many camps play. Anything to throw your opponent off his game. Glovesmanship is actually pretty tame in compared to some things that go on as opposing camps, particularly the A-side screws with the B-side.

    Bull****!
If the commision approves MX, Maidana should be allowed to wear anything approved by the commision.

This is'nt about head games, Maidana's only chance to beat Mayweather is to lay leverage and power behind his punches, and if he's being forced to wear the pillows that Mayweather uses then no matter how much leverage Maidana uses in throwing his punches, the impact is not going to be concussive.

Marquez is'nt even taking sides in this article, he is'nt pressed on the issue if the MX is safe and should be allowed, but he clearly states that Maidana would have a much better chance of beating Mayweather wearing his preffered MX.

Essentially what has happened here is that Mayweather the better boxer is dictating everything and basically saying, "since you're the puncher, you cant wear punchers gloves."

Every time out I'm losing more and more respect for Mayweather Jr. as a fighter.

You can't box in used gloves. The rule on the matter is this: you have 2 unopened packages with the gloves inside. Champ gets one, challenger gets one. Maidana's team shouldn't have tried to cheat with altered padding on the first set of gloves, that gave Floyd an opportunity to deny him the second, perfectly legal set.

Floyd denied him on the next TWO GLOVES.

first the custom everlast MX gloves (approved)
    then standard CLETO REYES (approved)
finally a standard everlast MX (approved)

ended up being paid off to fight in powerlocks..a cushy foam glove, no matter how slim it's profile is.

A dozen other articles stated this whole controversy as well...3 denied gloves (two of which commission approved)

Actually Maidana denied he was paid off, said it was just a rumor. Floyds camp floated that rumor to make it sound better, Maidana was apparently just forced to suck it up.

Also, I wasnt saying it wasnt BS but it is what it is.

He never landed any punches, except to the back of the head, what's the issue about gloves? Gloves are only significant when you land shots.

Marcos landed more than his fair share of legal punches.....he landed a few illegal punches as well but your arguement is bush! If gloves didn't matter Floyd shouldn't care.....after all you seem to believe that Miadana never landed a shot on Mayweather.....Floyd should just let Marcos come into the ring with wraps.

The only decent shot Maidana landed on Mayweather was a headbutt.

Good, makes up for Floyd's elbows.

Floyd won that fight clearly 8-4 but to say Maidana landed no decent shots...well you're either blind or a total nuthugger

There's video proof of Maidana landing clean shots to the head and body (some real good ones as well) Terrible post.
