No infallibility in boxing unless someone gets a KO. Honestly, I went with Compubox to tip my scales mainly because it wasn't otherwise clear to me who won the fight when I saw it last night.

Ok enlighten me on how boxing is scored by the judges. I thought the first and most important criteria in judging a boxing fight is effective punching. Isn't the 2nd or 3rd important criteria is ring general ship ( who is dictating the fight/controlling the ring, aggresor > passive).

I believe and it always has been that if the two fighters landed about the same amount of effective punches then you go to the 2nd and 3rd criteria of judging which is ring general ship. There were many close rounds and we all know judges score in favor of the aggressor. Manny was taking more risk trying to make a fight while JMM just waited to counter Manny. And btw, Pacquiao landed more per round that JMM.

Third thing I want to point out that people forget is Manny was the defending champion which means the challenger has to do more and win the rounds very convincingly to win the fight.

That is my take on that.

There's nothing people love more than seeing an underdog succeed and a legend be brought down to earth.

The fight was extremely close and Marquez did make Pac look clumsey at times. But he outlanded Marquez in all catogories.

Pacquaio's tactic was extremely stupid though, the way to beat Marquez is to make him the aggressor. As Mayweather did not to attack him where you are open to his counterpunching.

It's not an excuse it's actual quantifiable evidence, which is alot more reliable than opinion which is based on expectation. As in the expectation was that Pacquaio was going to destroy Marquez, instead we had a another very close fight, which in Pacquaio's world is like losing one.

Too bad there's no kissing the canvas talks for this fight.
This would've been the main discussion whenever Pac and JMM fight
I guess there's no other leverage for this fight other than the compubox stats

This is exactly why I opened the 'get rid of CompuBox' thread, it is making things worse.

You have a dude sitting behind buttons and pushing them to make up whatever stats he wants, maybe manipulating, maybe simply being overexcited with each Pac flurry.

And then you have your own pair of eyes which, unless they don't work or you just blocked their input, saw Marquez clearly landing more and the more effective punches in the fight, it is not a subjective thing, it is what happened.

B.b.b.b.b.ut CompuBox numbers! Pac won!

The very name Compubox is misleading as the 'system' is inputted by a human being or in the case of saturday's fight a sub-human or *******. There is nothing computerised about it.
