Just an interesting thing that caught my attention rewatching the Juan Manuel Marquez - Juan Diaz telecast: in the post fight interview Marquez might have spitted out what he shouldn't have at the momement with possible negotiations in the background:

(The exact words through the translator): "Instead of going down or staying at the weight, we're gonna move up and meet Mayweather which is gonna be for the best for P4P."

He didn't call out Mayweather, he didn't say he wants Mayweather. He said he is moving up to meet him, plain and simple, like it was already made.

Was the contract already signed on February 28? Did Schaefer whisper that in his ears before the interview, maybe even before the fight? The fight was announced on May 5, before the PacMan-Hatton fight. But when exactly Mayweather decided to come back and take on Juan Manuel? For how long was he planning this? :think

i guess the plan was to announce it before Pac vs Hatton the whole time. But probably Pac kicking Hatton's ass and essentially turning PBF vs JMM into an eliminator fight was not part of the plan

I honestly think Marquez didnt really expect to fight Floyd and was just using his name to bait Pacquiao in to a third fight. When Floyd decided to fight Marquez, JMM probably thought "**** i was just messing around but hey why not?"

At least read the opening post, will'ya? :huh

"Instead of going down or staying at the weight, we're gonna move up and meet Mayweather which is gonna be for the best for P4P."

He didn't call him out. He said he's gonna move up and meet him. He didn's say it as it is his desire. He said it if it was already made.

He clearly knew that the fight was possible so he called out Mayweather after the fight.

JMM isn't the type to call out someone and not intend to fight them.
So this is a good sign. It means that all along the plan was to move up.
Though I still wish the fight was at 142 lbs. Him having a longer period to adjust to the weight is a good thing.
FM Jr has enough money to make sure he wins on points.
But truth be known. Unless he KO's him it will be a loosing victory.
Roach called it with Pac Vs FM jr. FM will run like he normally does trying to con you into a sucker punch. A snore of a fight. Also that he doubted FM Jr would fight Pac due to fact he would not come down to at least 142.
    Time will tell the story.

Most likely... but my point is... he didn't call him out, he said he's going to fight him, like it was a done deal. Pay attention to his choice of words. Of course it doesn't really matter when they agreed on the fight, but after last weekend and rewatching the JMM-Diaz fight again, his choice of words caught my attention. Floyd is very smart and I think he was planning this fight for a while...
