Judging from that video, he's way too slow and still won't be able to deal with Pac's speed, and also Pac has way more power than him at welter. Not a good recipe for Marquez win.
You know what? THAT is exactly the first thing that came to my mind the moment someone called the attention on JMM's increase in size. That said, I worry: - for JMM because of the possibility that he might indeed make the (same?) mistake of coming in (too?) heavy by fight night which would compromise his ability to win the fight. - for Pac because regardless of whether item #1 does happen or not, his win will only get criticized and discredited by some*. :conf
Marquez is a great fighter even still but he's just to slow at the weight, I know his timing and counter-punching is what gave Manny hell in there previous fights but the difference in hand and foot speed is just too much at this weight. I like both the Marquez bro JMM is then second best fighter Nacho ever trained imo but he can't win at the weight.
Them Pipes on JMM got him looking like hes bringing the THUNDER! to Manny. It aint gonna be no picnic.
His second sparring partner in particular gives some of the jittery looks Pac gives, and the looping lefts he likes to sneak in there. I believe they're the same ones he used before, and I can see why. Maybe there's a tactical reason they're picking taller partners as well. It seems in these rounds, Marquez is focusing on seeing what shots are coming; I've seen him spar much harder before.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl We know how focused Marquez can remain when in trouble and in the eye of a storm. The question is can Pacquiao stay calm and focus on the gameplan and not start to go left hand crazy when Marquez starts to bounce counters off of him.
There will be times, as Steward said, where "he can't outbox him, he's gonna have to fight Pacquiao", but Marquez is one of the most clearheaded fighters in the midst of the action I've ever seen. He has to neither flee nor recklessly attack, and it's a very fine edge he's going to have to walk. If he doesn't throw at Pacquiao, he'll get feinted and tagged over and over; he has to land with authority on a somewhat regular basis if he hopes to hold his own.
