your right in either case it be tough fight for both but think bout how ,much crap floyd would hear if he didnt fight a legend i mean he gets alot of crap now for it. What if he decided to fight berto and made him look gatti everybody would have a fit
Nobody 'clearly' beat anyone twice in the Pacquiao-Marquez fights. Personally, I had the first scored close for Pacquiao and the second a draw, but I can see where someone could more than reasonably come out the other way.
Marquez did not clearly beat Pacman. Knockdowns aside, he did show me at least he was the better fighter. Again, other then the knockdowns there were some points in that fight that JMM was making Pac look a bit foolish. He was landing double lead right hands for crying out loud
i repeat, Juan Manuel Marquez is considered today as one of the top 5 fighters pound for pound, so i think it's safe to say that a top 5'ver can never be seen as a tuneup, especially Pacquiao, who's biggest victories has been against an old and dehydrated Oscar, and a ultraoverrated Ricky Hatton, who's only good fight was against an old Tszyu.
I also see it that way! JMM is the better fighter between the two. It just so happened that Pac had beaten JMM twice because of multiple KDs.
It's a tune-up fight after the almost 2 years in retirement of Floyd from pro boxing... It's also a mismatch fight against the smaller, slower, older, lesser skilled, lesser defense minded and lesser counterpuncher opponent in JMM... .
You make it appear that Duran fought at 147 immediately from 120 when he had 8 fights at or near that weight prior to when he fought SRL. He was fighting at or around 140 for some time but he was very big actually for 140 not because he has the height (5'7") but becuase he was so wide and compact (similar to Cotto probably in terms of structure, same height and reach actually). JMM on the other hand is not even tested at 135. Basically JMM is just a legitimate 130 pounder. That is a sudden two divisions jump. Diaz is good but nowhere to be considered even a grade A fighter because of his powderpuff power. Despite that, he had JMM in trouble in the early part of the fight. At 147, Mayweather appear not have to have the same power as he had at 130 but that is not because he lost power but his opponents are bigger and thus are more able to withstand his punches. But one thing is sure, FMJ punches way, way, way harder that Diaz. And if Diaz was able to connect against JMM, FMJ will surely do. In JMM's last 4-5 fights, regardless whether he is fighting a bum or a gatekeeper or past it casa, he is very much hittable.
The winnews of Mayweather/Marquez and Pacquaio/Cotto will fight each other. Mayweather and Pacquaio are both better than Marquez and Cotto. However neither is a tune-up fight.
