That's the cherrypicking at its best and in equal magnitude to Floyd's cherrypicking him. Marquez is not helping his cause to have a 3rd crack at Pac by proving that he can fight at a higher weight. Ty Goode, Pitt: "He turned down a fight with Khan, he won't move up and now he's fighting Morales who's totally shot, and he wonders why Pac won't fight him again"
Khan is too much of a risk for Marquez. He's only worried about securing himself financially, and Barrera-Morales is a big money maker in Mexico. Morales is not 'totally shot' either. he's not even shot. He's had a surprisingly good comeback. All power to them both if it happens, but if it's for the vacant WBC 140 Pound belt, then I'll be the first to complain.
Morales is shot, and has been for quite a few years. marquez is clearly past his best but not completely past it. When did the wbc belt become vacant.
He is not shot. What's your definition of shot? He's faded, NOT shot. Marquez had a great outing against Katsidis. Devon Alexander will be losing his next fight.
After jumping all the way up the 147 and getting shut out against Mayweather, Marquez needed a fight back at his natural weight and lose the muscle without further risk. It took him a long time to get another fight post-september, and after a relatively easy fight against Diaz, his enforced mandatory was Katsidis, who was no pushover and the next in line in the lightweight rankings. Nacho didn't like Goldenboy's approach to a Khan-Marquez fight, and/or Marquez had a back injury. After two fights at 135, he wants to establish himself at 140 for a fourth title or a third fight with Pacquiao. Taking a tune-up at that weight is a smart idea. The man is old, and all this weight jumping has to be done carefully, and he's trying to get fights with Khan and Pac in the near future. I don't see anything resembling Floyd's cowardly behavior. Those two are out of his best weight-range, and this fight has a monetary and preparatory purpose. The same can't be said for Pacquiao's choice of opponent.
Khan would be a horrible matchup for Marquez. Considering the size difference alone, I don't think it's unreasonable to not want Khan yet when he's at a point where one bad loss could effectively end his career.
This is the 2nd thread in 2 days from a ******* trying to deflect Manny's cherry picking onto Marquez. Easy, boys
If somebody wants to try tarnish Marquez name on a boxing forum surely trying the old "Cherry Picker" route is pretty lame.
I dont like this fight, but Marquez is getting old himself, and we havent seen how Marquez looks at 140. I still dont like this fight tho. Marquez will still be in a lose-lose situation. If he looks bad against Morales, then this will confirm my strong believes that he shouldnt be fighting over 135. If he looks good, he wont get any credit for this fight, which he shouldnt. If he truely wants to get a 3rd fight with Pacquiao, he's gonna have to look horrible in this match up.
The WBC were always looking at making this fight as soon as Morales comeback, you could spot from a mile off that Marquez v Morales was gonna happen at 140 for a belt [the only fight of the modern day Fab 4 of Barrera, Morales, Marquez and Pacquiao not to happen, and the first 4-weight Mexican world champion would be crowned]. The IBF was vacate, but you always knew it was gonna be the Mexican-based WBC that would grant them both a shot and sure enough, soon after, they stripped Devon Alexander for not fulfilling his mandatory I believe and for instead fighting against the #1 light-welterweight. :verysad
LOl i like the last comment, shot is basically nt he fighter they used to be, to the point where they cant get the punches off that their mind tells them to, co ordiation off punch reistance lacking, skills dimished to a point of no return etc. Yes he did well against kats but he is just superior he is styill way past it. :good
