Marquez Turned Down Khan To Fight Shot Morales

I can't see why they wouldn't make this at 140 for the vacant WBC title. I'd be very surprised if Morales gets down to 135.

 

Since Morales' last few fights have been near 140, I'm guessing his fight with JMM will be campaigned at the junior welterweight class? If so, you can't really blame JMM for trying to use Morales as a stepping stone/gatekeeper. Besides, JMM has just recently stated he'd like to fight Khan later this year. That has to account for something.

 

I love Marquez and Morales to death, but it would be complele bull**** if this was for the vacant WBC title. It would be almost as bad as the Margo-Pac fight being for the vacant WBC 154lb title.

 

Katsidis would KO khan, JMM would have one easy payday

 

If he is a 135 fighter, then what is the issue about 140/147 fight with Pac?

 

This easy payday will push him more away from the biggest payday.

 

EM is not a push-over. I've always gone with JMM against anybody, but Pac. This one though, I think Mrales will get it. Call me stupid or something, I just could see an upset.

 

Like fighting anyone else would get him the fight with Pacquiao either way. :roll:

marquez turned down khan after the mayweather fight, at that time the best fight for marquez was diaz, a fight at a weight he is comfortable at against a guy he already beat. if marquez took the khan fight and lost then his career would be over, he made the best fight for his career. after the mayweather fight golden boy thought that marquez's career was coming to an end and were not acting in his best interest by offering him the khan fight. now golden boy will not make khan vs marquez for at least another year because they now know marquez still has all the skills needed to beat him.

i'm a khan fan, but you don't see him calling marquez out now for a fight in april because he knows that marquez is still an elite fighter who's skill level hasn't deteriated as much as he believed after the mayweather fight.

all these threads are started by pac fans who just want to hate on marquez because they saw what marquez did to pac in them two fights. they don't want to see their boy get bullied from one side of the ring to the other again. it took manny 4 years to get in the ring with marquez again after the first fight, he even fought the loser of marquez vs barrera to delay the fight even further.

finally, none of you pac fans can hate on marquez for fighting a shot morales, because manny did it twice.:deal

This fight actually makes sense, IMO. Marquez fights Morales in what is almost guaranteed to be a war and picks up a 140 belt in the process. Now Marquez has even more bargaining chips when negotiating a fight with Khan...

Morales is probably the best fighter out of Mexico since Chavez..

Tell that to the 46 opponents Morales beat. Many of them world class, some of them ATGs.

 

If he fight and beat Berto or Bradley or Khan, he will raise his credibility to the higher weights(therefore also monetarily). Pac team will be forced to reconsider. Nobody will then call him cherrypicking.
