Good ****, would have being a mismatch. Who would you like Marquez to face now? I'm sure Golden Boy will try to push him into a fight against Robert Guerrero. I know a lot of people don't like the idea but I would like Marquez to fight Khan. UDPATE:
With Katsidis vs Guerrero supposedly being off it's a logical choice. There's not a right lot out there for Marquez right now with Arum seemingly determined to avoid a 3rd Pacquiao fight at all costs. He'd annihilate either Guerrero or Soto..... GBP will want to give Maidana a comeback fight..... Rios maybe?......
Rios and Soto would be ideal but they're both Top Rank so no chance of that. Plus they've both got fights lined up. Schaefer has mentioned Guerrero before. Maidana is a good shout :yep. Would be a good scrap. Maybe Linares? :think There's not a lot out there unless if he moves up to 140.
Another option for Khan. Except this would be a genuinely good fight and perhaps not what they're looking for to fill the gap between Alexander/Bradley. But hey, I don't think you can think too far ahead in this game. If the chance comes up to make a huge fight like that, grab it IMO.
Glad to hear that fight is not happening, I don't need to see Morales taking another beating. It's such a pain in the ass that realistically we can only hope for opponents with GBP, all of Top Rank being off limits. How the **** can these lads continue on like this, they're trying to hurt each other but theyre hurting boxing. Guerrero would be alright, but I wouldn't expect him to do that well. This is probably ridiculous but ... Berto? It's a big size jump for Marquez, and he might not want to go to that. But Berto is just so open to be taken apart by a guy like Marquez, and it would be huge for his legacy. Neither has a fight, and Berto was already in talks for another GBP fighter.
I know it would have been crap. I know it was 5 years, at least, too late. But I wish it had happened. Then between Pacqiauo, Morales, Barrera and JMM you have a brand new Fabulous Four who all met each other at least once and who all lost to at least one of the others...
He could probably beat Berto, who leaves me massively underwhelmed. So personally I see Bradley beating Devon, Amir and Berto in the next year :yep Marquez-Morales would 'close our eras fabulous four' but in essence that's fantasy land. Don't worry bout it, this fight is a joke. Guerrero has got no chance with JMM, shame Edwin Valero is with Top Rank would love to see him and Marquez square off.
Marquez vs Pacquiao is the fight I want to see. Preferably with judges capable of putting the 10's & 9's in the right boxes. Marquez vs Khan would be a decent fight in a year's time when Khan has matured some more...... though he will probably run into trouble in the form of Bradley. You could always make Marquez vs Bradley and shove Khan in to extinguish Ortiz for good..... and make winner vs winner immediately afterwards.
bull**** el terrible deserves the chance to win a fourth title in a fourth weightclass by fighting the best kid in the division and we deserve to see this fight better late than never
Marquez is looking for at least one more big payday, very much doubt we will ever get the rubber match against Pacquiao
