A Bradley matchup is unlikely to happen because of Marquez' age and the fact that Bradley is'nt a money fight. Bradley is definitely the toughest matchup at 140, and imo the only fighter at 140 lbs I'd give a realistic chance to beat Marquez. I would have to see how Marquez looks and handles the weight at 140 lbs against a less complicated matchup like Hatton or Malignaggi, before really getting into the tooth of analizing correctly a Marquez-Bradley matchup. ........however, I'm going to say that those depicting in this thead an easy victory of Bradley over Marquez, dont have a clue of what they're talking about....... Newsflash......Juan Diaz and Bradley are completely different fighters with different styles. Kirk, I thought you could analyze a matchup much better than that.......to insinuate that Bradley would pick off where Diaz left off???? Completely different styles. .......and I'll add that Bradley is'nt much more powerful than Juan Diaz is. Alot of you are very much underestimating JMM, it seems like that will never stop..... JMM vs Diaz was fought in a phonebooth.........thats right, the same small 18x18 foot ring that Paulie Malignaggi was crying and complaining about when he first fought Diaz in his hometown of Houston. You all saw how much closer and competitive that first Diaz-Malignaggi fight was in comparison to last nights........a compromise was made for the ring size last night in a "neutral" site, and we all saw that just a little bit bigger ring 20x20, made a difference in for Malignaggi to give Diaz less opportunity to get cutoff and taken to the ropes. JMM beat the crap out of Juan Diaz in his phone booth of a ring, and you all still find it to complain and find fault with JMM's performance. Marquez is not Malignaggi who is going to prance and run around the ring.......he stands in the pocket and gives slight lateral movements and invites you to attack him, so yes, a Juan DIaz in a phonebooth of a ring is apt to look more comfortable against a fighter who is not going to run against him. As far as the Bradley Matchup for JMM.......Bradley is not Mayweather Jr......and seeing that his physical characteristics are similar to that of Marquez', he would not have the physical advantages that Mayweather had over Marquez. Somebody help me out here, I'm not an expert on Bradley, but I have seen a few of his fights.......I believe I do remember him being dropped or hurt in fights. .......Bradley is quick and fast, but its not like he's anywhere close to being sound defensively, he does have holes in tha defense a fighter the caliber of JMM would surely exploit. Give the man his due dammit.......to say anyone at 140 lbs and below beats JMM as if it was just an afterthought, is disrespecting what is still one of the better fighters still around today.:-mad: :fire
I think this would be a very good first six rounds or so. After that I think it would be all Bradley. Marquez is in decline while Bradley is hitting what looks to be a very good prime. Bradley is too young, active, quick, and is a career jr welter. JMM has one fight at welter(where he doesn't belong at all) and two at lightweight. He made his mark at feather and jr lightweight. Marquez should make his last fights against guys he can beat like Hatton, Valero, Katsidis and such, a prime Bradley is all wrong for an aging Marquez.
Seems like you really did'nt put much thought to what you posted....... Great fight for 6, but all Bradley afterward???? What would make you state a comment like that. If anything, Marquez long and even recent history has depicted that he gets better as the rounds pass, now worst....... Marquez just took over in the final rounds vs Diaz...... He looked the fresher fighter against Pacquiao, and that was still less than 2 years ago...... Even while being physically overmatched in every dept.......he looked like he could have gone 15 with Mayweather easy..... ......if anything, history would tell us that its Marquez who has the history of being able to make the adjustments and take over fights late. ......nothing in Marquez' recent history signals that Marquez is physical wise and conditioning wise slowing down. .......now you could have just said that you believe Bradley has the physical tools as far as quickness, speed, and manueverablity to win over Marquez..... ....but the way you laid it out that the fight is competitve through six and then Marquez fades, makes absolutely zero sense it you look at Marquez' recent fights. Nothing in Marquez' recent fights would indicate that in his older age he's a fighter who can be worn down, absolutely nothing!!!!!!!!!deal:deal Got to keep people honest and thinking, and backing their opinions up with examples of why they think the way they do. Nothing personal Bogart, but the opportunity was there with your post encourage people to back up what they say by providing examples, the forum learns more and is better off for it.
Marquez is tough and skilled, but 140 is not where he belongs. At that weight he can only beat the lower level fighters, not the top guys like Bradley that are too comfortable at that weight.
Let's make one thing clear here. Marquez has not had a single fight at 140. His sojourn at 147 proved he is not and will never be a competitive welterweight. If it were any other legitimate top welterweight Marquez would have been dangerously knocked out. Why are people now pegging him at 140? Because there are talks of a big money fight with Hatton? Because Marquez had two close fights with Pacquiao at the lower weights, the exceptional weight-climbing that Pacquiao has done translates to Marquez as well? Marquez has proven poop at 140, for all we know a big-hitting jr welter knocks him the **** out with the first bomb that lands. And it's not far-fetched at all. Diaz had him on wobbly legs a number of times and this guy isn't exactly known as a big puncher.
Bradley has a lot more skill than Diaz. People are still underestimating him. It's hard to say what his approach would be in this fight, but Mayweather made it clear at least to me, that if you make Marquez lead, he's there to be hit. Considering Bradley made Peterson who is extremelly athletic, tall, and has a good jab lead for the majority of the fight and managed to outbox him, I imagine Bradley would do the same. Also, given Bradley's size and agility, I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the battle on the inside. In fact, I would fully expect Bradley to alternate his gameplan and land some serious combinations.
This would be a great fight because JMM is a great counter puncher and Bradley brings it. But i think Bradley is just too young, slightly bigger, much faster and just too warrior minded for JMM. I think he takes JMM out.
I was just thinking about this fight happening right before i saw your post I Agree this could be FOTY 2010. I think it would be Bradley by UD or SD in a ? decision that could have gone either way ala Pac vs Marquez II.
For some of you guys to bring the defensive wizard Mayweather as proof that Marquez cant handle 140 lbs and equate that with easy pickings for Bradley is ridiculous. I guess in mid march when Pacquiao embarrasses Pacquiao, we can then open up threads depicting that what Mayweather did to Pacquiao, Bradley can do also!:rofl:rofl:rofl:nut Marquez did'nt do well against Mayweather say the clowns, "no way he beats Bradley!"nut:nut Good God, Mayweather is difficult to hit for anyone. If you all are going to make a case for Bradley over Marquez, I dont have a problem with that..... ....but you're making fools of yourself by pointing to the Mayweather fight as proof that Bradley beats Marquez. I'm in agreeance, Bradley is a difficult fight for Marquez, but the Mayweather fight is no basis to point to a Bradley victory, because Bradley fights nothing like Mayweather.
bottom line is JMM fought at 126 for 90% of his career, a few times at 130 and 2 times at 135. he fought a perfect fight against a guy like diaz who cant punch but yet hurt him...and csamayor is old and done. Bradley is a true 140 pound guy and he will stop marquez before round 6, and all you guys that think you can bounce around and pick fantasy fights 4 weight divisions apart will see what happens when its done to a guy in his prime thats all business
