Ah, so you've heard Pinoy coverage of Mayweather-Marquez then? Yup you've probably heard snippets like "shutout", "total schooling", "complete novice"! Ouch... :yep
Unfortunately JMM at any weight above 135 is what you see in his fight with Floyd. Slow, sluggish and without power. He'd go the distance with Tim, but JMM doesn't bring up the attributes he has at his natural weight. He's a completely different fighter and since the Casa and Diaz fights I've seen JMM on the slide.
Nah...Bradley doesn't have more skills than JMM. JMM is one of the most technically sound and best all around boxer in the world. But he's just not the fighter he is at 1226-135 at 140 where Bradley is the man. The only reason JMM was so hittable with JMM was b/c of the weight. Slower, sluggish and therefore easier to hit. And it helped that Floyd is very accurate and held a large advantage in physical demensions.
IF.....and that is a very big IF! May can do the exact thing he did against JMM to PAC I will admit I'm completely wrong and give you the props you deserve. But what if Manny makes the fight with Floyd very compettive and close.....or even WINS. What will you say? Will there be anther excuse? Will you say Floyd is shot? Had a rehyadration clause or on Roids? I say JMM beats Bradly at 135 or below without a doubt, but JMM is not built for Jr WW and that is fact.
I'd give you props if this happened. I can gurantee PAC will NOT look like a novice and that this fight will be the exact opposite of what transpired with a blown up JMM. Now I do think Floyd wins a decision but will be in a fight where he takes a lot of damage and looses many rounds. I just feel he'll do just enough to get the nod. What about you...what if PAC makes this fight very close and competitive? or even win?
Good!:good So there it is....after March 13th we'll revist your stance and see how you'd like to respond at that time. I'm glad you are so confident based on how Floyd beat JMM and disregarding how PAC has looked in the last 3 yrs.
AHAHAH! Cotto was outboxing PAC? Really?....I mean REALLY homie? Go shoot your eye doctor for causing you to be blind.
Reasons why I would think Bradley would dominate the later rounds with Marquez? It would be a combination of things starting with Marquezs' age and the division he would be competing at. If a Bradley-JMM bout ever happened JMM would be pushing 37 and fighting at a division he's been at or higher just once. I have a hard time seeing JMM, at this point, keeping up with a fighter with Bradley's style and skills. JMM beat Diaz but I think Bradley is a level above Diaz and his pressure would be noticeably more than Diaz. And Diaz did well for himself in that fight. Mayweather didn't seem to push on the gas except for the last round or so. If Mayweather would have fought that fight aggressively he stops JMM. As for the Pacquaio fight, JMM will have aged 2 years since then. Two years isn't a lot but its something at JMM's age. And since then he's had some tough fights with Diaz and Casamayor and took some real punishment against Mayweather. So when you add up JMM's age, fighting above his idea weight, tough fights lately, and Bradley's style then I think he's in for a long night if they ever fight. I like JMM and even though his peak was several years ago I think he still has enough to probably beat anyone in the sport from 140 down. Except Pacquaio and Bradley.
If you've read my posts in this thread, I have'nt even picked Marquez to beat Bradley. Without having seen Marquez operate at 140 lbs, I'd have to make it a pick'em matchup.......Why? for the same reason I had made the Pacquiao-Hatton matchup at 140 lbs a pickem, the unknown of not having watched Pac operate at 140 lbs. I'll be the first poster on this site coming here to say I've underrated Pacquiao's ability to deal with skilled fighters with real boxing ability if he by in my mind, he miraculously beats Mayweather. I've already heard people on this board calling Cotto shot since the Margarito fight and not giving Pacquiao is deserved credit. I'm of the opinion that Cotto was'nt shot, not even close, so Pacquiao should be given credit for getting Cotto to bite and go on the offense. I have not been passed giving Pacquiao credit in any of his fights. I actualy picked him vs DLH......even went as far at to say that he'd beat DLH p4p and prime for prime.....how is that not giving Pacquiao credit??? In the Hatton and Cotto fights, there was the unknown as to whether Pacquiao could take punishment from a physically stronger fighter.......I edged against Pacquiao in those fight for that very reason, but said it was difficult to call because of the weight factor. For this Mayweather matchup, we all know what Mayweather can do, and we all know that Pacquiao can deal with the strenghth of a true welter. There are really not an unknowns in this matchup, and so to me, its much easier to analyze the matchup knowing fully well what the capabilities are for each fighter at said weight. An easy matchup for me to break down, and you have me on record on that. Cut, paste, and save this post and throw it at my face if I'm wrong, cause I doubt you'll be doing it if I'm right.:yep You've heard it from divac, Mayweather will make Pacquiao look like a complete novice! Wide points victory or late tko by Mayweather. I'll glady be happy to see Mayweather get humbled! MANNY PACQUIAO SHOCK THE WORLD!!!!:yep.....but I just dont believe it for one second that it will happen.
:deal For the record I feel Floyd will beat PAC but I just don't see anyone making PAC look like a novice or winning dominantly....For me I just feel JMM invisible wall for moving up in weight was 135 and anything above we don't get to see what JMM really has in terms of talent, skills and natrual boxing ability. He looses so much as he ages and climbs up in weight. But I will be awaiting March 13th to see how this one plays out.
You dont discredit a fighter and say he's going to fade down the stretch when thats never happened in his career. There is not one example you could give me to say that Marquez has ever faded in a fight. When we see it happen, thats when you can incorporate that judgment in the next matchup. Example, DLH fades in fights all the time......he's one to say, he's going to fade on a said matchup....... ....we've seen it with Cotto as well, he faded against both Mosley and Margarito.....he's also one to say, I think he may fade if a fight goes to the late round, which btw I did say such thing when analyzing Pacquiao-Cotto. There is no precedence to suggest JMM is going to fade agaisnt anyone. Here's a man that has trained in the highest of altituded in the Otomi Mountains of Mexico. I could'nt name a fighter who comes in better cardiovascular condition than Marquez, not a one. Marquez does not fade, he never has!
Who says Bradley is going to pressure JMM anyway? More than likely, Bradley may START with pressure, but after outboxing Peterson who is tall, fast, athletic, and has a great jab, I think Bradley would be plenty confident staying on the outside. And while Bradley won't dominate Marquez to the same extent that Mayweather did, who fought basically a perfect fight less the KO, he'll still probably win the fight by a huge margin. I don't see Marquez being much of a factor in this fight.
