This is if Calzaghe was still active, but hadn't fought since his fight with Roy.

Taking into account that Juan Manuel Marquez fought and beat both Joel Casamayor and Juan Diaz, either side of Calzaghe beating up the corpse of Roy Jones, would you say that Calzaghe would still be ranked P-4-P no.2 in the world?

I know some of you might have had JMM above him anyway, and others might have had him no.1 based on your "personal opinion" that he beat Pacquiao in their second fight (or maybe even in both bouts). But I'm looking for posters that had a similar outlook to myself at the time of Calzaghe's retirement; ie: (1) Pac (2) Joe C, and (3) JMM.

Would the fact that Marquez had jumped up a division and stopped two highly ranked operators who had never been stopped before, and in a division that was pretty stacked, move him above Calzaghe into 2nd spot?

Calzaghe fought Jones on 8/11/08, which given his activity in the last couple of years would make it perfectly feasible that he would not have fought again by this point in time.

Also, take into account that Casamayor had never been decisively beaten before, taking big LW punchers Castillo, Corrales and Freitas to tight disbutable decisions.

In addition, Hopkins fooled with Pavlik after JMM had beaten Casamayor, which would have brought up Calzaghe's stock.

Basically, after weighing up the evidence, would JMM still be no. 2 P-4-P if Joe Calzaghe was currently active?

Give me your 1,2 and 3, with Calzaghe still active in the mix:think

Calzaghe wouldn't be anywhere near the top 3.

I almost had Marquez above Calzaghe even right after RJJ.

Calzaghe shouldn't have been in the top 4 when he retired.

frankly, the top four in the past two years or so have to be Pac, JMM, PBF and Calzaghe. Pretty much doesn't matter about the order. They were the best of the best, though i'd more than accept an argument for B-Hop to joint them.

Is this a joke? Marquez has an argument to be #1.. so of course hes #2 over Calzaghe

How come Joe still doesn't get any credit for his win over Hopkins, yes Hopkins was old but he beat Tarver and Wright before the fight with Joe and Pavlik after. They were all in or around the top 10 p4p.

I know this says more about Hopkins but surely Joe was the man who beat the man???

    :patsch

Anyway, it's hard to really put Calzaghe #2 over JMM because we all know Joe retired. I think it really sticks in people's minds that Joe wouldn't have any fights lined up, too.

Having said that, JMM is a worthy #2 over Joe. It's a toss up I think.

The way i see it is if JMM fought Kessler, Bhop or RJJ he would not beat because they are basically too big, so i am giving it to JC. But i love JMM style, it's the most exiting in the sport today.
