Does anyone know how much these guys made for their fight last night? As we all know the little guys give the best fights and get screwed on the pay.:?

    $750k - Vazquez

    $425k - Marquez

If there would be a 4th fight both should get at least double the money, I wouldn't mind this one being a PPV on HBO with the proper hype surrounding it...

Not enough. If Gatti and Ward can get a million each, these guys deserve at least that.

It's so sad how underpaid these two are.

All three of these fights should have been PPV, but the average fan doesn't have a clue who either are, so they get screwed.

Terrible purses. Probably the best they ever had but that makes it even more terrible. Showtime can truly make big and exciting fights but this was a HUGE trilogy and I feel that HBO could've done a much better job marketing it and paying much more to the fighters, around a million. And it even could've been on free HBO as the overall cost of the promotion wasn't that much...

But big props to Showtime that they actually made this trilogy... 3 great nights and finally the 3rd one was a sellout. Considering that, 750k and 425k sounds even more terrible...

Horribly underpaid. I didn't want to read this thread because I knew I was going to get pissed off. Dela Greedy and Gayfeather put on average semi-boring fights and they get paid over $20,000,000.00 each. Vasquez and Marquez put on classics three straight times and this is all they get for their third fight (750K and 425K)? I'm sure Shaw got a chunk that shouldn't have been as large. I just hope theses warriors get paid handsomely from now on.

This was exactly what I had in mind when I wrote this, some of these clowns that make millions of $$$ get in the ring to collect a check not to try to win at all costs like these little guys do. As long as people buy those bs fights it will continue to happen.

I am in the same boat as most of those who read this post. This is a tragedy that these two didn't get paid nearly enough for the entertainment and events they provided to us. I usually don't care what the fighters make b/c they are living better than me for 36 minutes of boxing... but putting this in perspective, the Vasquez Marquez fights were far more entertaining than 90% of the fights over the past year. Hopefully the money will trinkle down to the lower weights and those two get the compensation they deserve.

*side note: funny how when I said 'compensation they deserve' the first thing that popped in my mind was Mali. If Mali had fights like this, then the big names would line up. Don't go out and say you want pay days, go out and earn it. I'm sure many will pay to see Vasquez marquez if they go 4.

People should not forget that these two aren't two sluggers who stood toe-to-toe and gave it their all - these are two Top 10 p4p fighters in their prime! So...the money is awful, considering that...

:good It wasn't just a slugfest where those two stood idle and bashed each other up. The technical/tactical was there. Drama, the KD's, the previous 2 bouts, completely ridiculous that this wasn't a bigger event than it was. Honestly, Vasquez made me a fan by the way he went all out in the 12th, Marquez by withstanding the punishment, the ref by not calling the fight. Man what a fight.

Thats true, but don't they (at least Vazquez) live in the burbs around LA? That purse barely pays rent out there.:yep

They weren't fighting in Mexico, though, were they?:huh

So...you'd expect they'd be better payed...for their great skill AND fighting heart.
