Possibly great card, especially if they put in Viloria. JMM-Gesta: solid fight for Marquez, way better than a fight against Cuenca who only had 1 KO. Donaire-Terrazas: Terrazas is a tough fighter, just beat Montiel in his last fight, and is arguably a top 10 fighter at 122. Solid 1st defense for Nonito.
It's time for nonito to look good and terrazas is just made for the occasion Marquez and gesta in different leagues, not saying gesta is bad
A Viloria-Tyson Marquez unification would be an obvious choice if Tyson gets pass Rodel Mayol next month. Perfect for the Philippines-Mexico theme. I do agree that JMM and Gesta are in different leagues, but for me, personally, I'm interested to see a fellow Filipino get a shot at the big time. And if this is a Philippines-Mexico theme, Gesta is basically the only choice at that weight. I would rather see JMM fight a Robert Guerrero or even a Miguel Vazquez though.
It's a logical enough card from a business perspective although if Arum still thinks it's filling Cowboy Stadium he's completely nuts. I just hope I never again hear anyone excusing Donaire's utter disinterest in fighting Rigondeaux as somehow connected to a desire to fight the best and only the best, especially if he takes on Arce next.
What bothers me about Donaire is that instead of puting the blame of Arum about avoiding rigondeaux he keeps saying Rigo hasn't accomplish enough yet- a fighter is suppose to say ill fight anybody my promoter and manager says, I want to fight the best out there. Instead he avoids Rigo like a plague
Marquez would kill Gesta. I mean, the kid will either die in the ring, or fall into a coma in the dressing room.
Cuban did you not read the bottom of the article it said the plans could change 10 times in the coming weeks for July 14... this is just very preliminary thoughts about donaire and amarquez bouts... I'm still hoping Peterson wins and fights Marquez ... and donaire fights nishioka or Rafael Marquez .. although terrazas a good solid choice.
