I just finished rewatching this fight. A few points:
    1. Juanma needs a new trainer!! Why? The same mistakes Juanma was doing in his first 10 fights, still there. Still he was really kicking Marquez ass. That tells me the guy is awesome. Mistakes: punching head down too much, messing with his pants too much, Squares and get in odd positions too much, and the worst is he still forgets about defense. I mean, he is kicking opponents ass and the opponent throws a desperate punch, and always lands in Juanma's face!!!! For ****sake!!!

    2. Commentator were kissing Marquez ass right from the beginning.
    3. They even dedicated more time interviewing Marquez than Juanma when Juanma was the the winner. Unbelievable!!

I think Juanma is an awesome talent! If he keep doing those mistakes he will pay the price very soon. Especially going up in weight. Guys hit harder and one day he will get caught and will not be able to get up.

I also recently rewatched and realized how arrogant Juanma fought.

He simultaneously underestimated Marquez' power and overestimated his own punch resistance, seemingly - and as a result, he was wobbled on multiple occasions.

I also was quite annoyed with the excessive holding and hitting, particularly when he was pinning Marquez' head down. :-(

Maybe sooner than you think... Salido is a very live underdog IMO.

Marquez with a right hand would have put him away. Lopez is just too basic and lacks a proper defense. I don't have anything against him but he just won't survive against Gamboa if all he does is stalk forward and try to batter his opponents. He could improve his technique but as of now he looks like he's got some problems. Salido will give him a tough fight, and a rematch with Rafa could derail him if he comes in fit.

I only saw that fight once so I don't remember the specifics, but what I do remember is Marquez wobbling Lopez several times with counter left hooks. He's lucky Rafa wasn't the same fighter he was a couple of yeasr ago because even with the size disadvantage I'm positive a younger Marquez would've flattened Lopez that night.

It's hard to tell though if his chin is really that bad or if it's just that he gets hit so cleanly. He needs to learn how to properly mix defense with his offense. He can't be that wreckless when opening up on his opponents. If he continues with that he's just a KO waiting to happen.

Him and Gamboa are pricks. I cant wait to see them loose, they both have awesome talent but their antics inside the ring are ****ing annoying. Anyways, sorry to tell you but I dont see greatness in JuanMa

At least Gamboa demonstrates proper fundamentals when focused. Juanma doesn't seem to be able to do anything other than weather the storm and punch his opponent very hard. He could do better, but someone would have to show him.

I think juanma knows he can be hurt obviously because he got dropped by Concepcion, i go with him all the way but what everyone says here is true, he has alot of bad habbits, his defense is ****, the only thing that kept me calm when he got Marquez's left hook that almost put him down was he had gone down before and got up to win and that after a while he'd hit marquez with a straight left to reduce marquez aggressiveness that had him stumbling a few times too but we talking about one of the marquez, you have to train like your getting in a ring with a lion to fight the marquez's. i think lopez power is Huge but his defense and technical skills aren't going to take him anywhere, i think his fight with gamboa is going to be one where the only thing that can be done for those cheering on lopez is hope for him to land these huge punches and KO him, sad but i dont think he's going to change trainers, ive notice boxers sit down to correct there mistakes after they loose by one. he's not going to change much by now specially with how cocky the guy is..... My Fav rican from now a days is always going to be Cotto, i like quiet fighters that leave talking for there opponents to do it and then speak with there fist on fight night. but i'll be cheering Lopez:happy
