If Marquez were a natural 147lb would their be a different outcome? I just re-watched the fight and noticed on numerous occasions Manny Steward, Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman eluding to Floyd being dominant because he was a bigger fighter. I personally think regardless of natural weight Mayweather was far too skillful for Marquez. So again I ask if Marquez were a natural 147lb fighter what does the ESB world think the outcome would be? Thoughts and vote please.

Are we talking Marquez at 36 and being a natural 147 pound fight?

same age assuming marquez all the while was a natural 147lb. THEY NEVER MENTIONED HIS AGE SO i WONT. tHEY SAID HIS WEIGHT WAS THE ISSUE.

i think skill and style wise, mayweather still holds the advantage. however, i see the result being more along the lines of oscar, with marquez pressing even more and getting an even more disputed SD loss

fair point.i'd give him 1-3 rounds. I don't think he would have been hindered as badly if he carried his weight better but I don't think that would have made much of a difference.

If you pick a prime Marquez and move him up to 140-147 with the attendant increase in height and reach, then he gives Mayweather a tougher fight, but it would be a boring tactical affair.

he'd figure a way to land the right on Floyd constantly, and sneak occasional counters, but Floyd would frustrate him late on for a 3-4 round advantage.

neither do I, It just find it funny that so called boxing experts feel that is the reason for Floyds dominance. Instead of recognizing his boxing supremacy.

It was the fact that he was bigger, faster, younger, fresher, and more skilled. Not just more skilled. He had every advantage over him almost. Plus, it's not just that Marquez's frame is smaller, it's that his best days came before he turned lightweight, let alone being a welterweight.

instead of this question.. why don't you just think of how the fight would have been in their respective careers at super featherweight... give marquez a decent chance because he was pretty damn fast... but mayweather wins a close decision

The size did play a factor. Marquez landed some nice right crosses but Floyd just laughed them off. That being said I think Floyd holds a huge stylistic advantage over Marquez, so he'd probably beat him regardless of his size advantage.

When i watched Marquez fights when he was still at 122 (to 126) lbs and late 20s, he looks like a complete package anyone at that weight will have a hard time - regardless of opponent's era.

The marquez that fought FMJ is a shadow of himself, not only on size/weight/reach - even his timing and reflex looks like a totally different fighter / person.
