morales doesn't have a shot since he has been shot for the past 4 years.

this is a **** fight. easy victory for jmm via tko/ko. purely a money fight for jmm and definitely shouldn't enhance his legacy at all.

i'm also not happy with the pac-mosley fight. but this jmm-morales fight will end up being even less competitive compared to pac-mosley.

If Morales had ever been able to carry his power up to 135, I'd at least give him a puncher's chance here. It's not like Marquez is untouchable anymore. But he's always looked so godawfully sluggish at lightweight, and now he's old on top of that.

I don't think I'll ever stop laughing if Erik finds a way to starch him though.

I know that Arum is banking on well over 1 million.
Since he's talk so much crap of how Mosley is so much more marketable than Marquez, Arum is thinking the Mosley fight will do in the range of Margarito and Cotto which was 1.2 million..........

My educated guess is that it will do somewhere between 700 and 900 PPV buys, well short of my estimation for a 3rd Pacquiao vs Marquez fight, which if promoted in the direction that the mass boxing media witnessed Marquez propinating Pacquiao a boxing lesson, I have no doubt a 3rd fight between them would outsell the Cotto and Margarito fights, which would put it in excess of 1.2 million buys.

The history between Marquez and Pacquiao would have sold big, and the HBO 24/7 theme on it would have intrigued the casual fans to buy the PPV.

.....no such thing can be done with Pacquiao-Mosley.

Fair but I think you are wrong. JMM and Pac would be lucky to get pass 900K buy.

If PBF and JMM can barely get a million, Pac vs JMM would not do 1.2+ million. The history of both is only appreciated by hardcore fans, which is only a small portion of any major PPV events.

JMM vs Pac is a mainstream event. It is a decent boxing matchup. If it was going to be that profitable GBP would have pushed for co-promotions since 1 mil PPV boxing are rare every year. But they did not, they even stepped aside and allow Marquez Promotions to do it themselves - meaning they did not have the confidence that it was going to be that profitable. But neither TR or MARQUEZ PROMOTIONS stepped up to do it. Meaning no one wanted to put money on the line to make this a PPV event. 750K PPV means usually it is a major boxing event - a success. But if all 3 promotions are unwilling to step up that tells you something.

Marquez-Mayweather actually did 1.1 million......and that fight was marketed and promoted with the theme of what Mayweather had left being out for 2 years against a top tier but smaller fighter moving up.

The mass media viewed it as simply an excersize for Mayweather to set up a much bigger event in Mayweather-Pacquiao.

......the great majority who bought the fight on PPV did so simply from the intrigue of Mayweather coming back most including myself did'nt have any expectations of Marquez pulling an upset.
.....and of course, the buy rate was helped by the always boxing spending PPV Latino buys.

Without any expectations that Marquez could pull an upset, the fight generated over 1 million buys.

A Marquez-Pacquiao fight is a different story, and more so if Pacquiao would come to his senses and have the fight fought at 140 lbs, a weight he can still make with ease.

Where the mass boxing media did'nt give Marquez any kind of a chance vs Mayweather.......there are already signs that would not be the case with a Marquez-Pacquiao re-encounter.
Most in the media were dissing Pacquiao taking the Mosley fight over the Marquez fight.

......and there are plenty of boxing experts and trainers who still would favor JMM over Pacquiao if it should come about.

.....as recently as a few days ago, Buddy McGirt was on video tape saying he'd pick JMM over Pacquiao at 140 lbs if it were fought today.

In a promotion such as Marquez-Pacquiao, there would be lots of boxing media and trainers, even fighters who would be willing to be quoted on the 24/7's, they're favoring Marquez over Pacquiao.
.......and along with those quotes on those HBO 24/7's, would come video highlights of Manny Pacquiao's head continously being jarred and bounced back as most of the casual fans have never seen before of Pacquiao.

Testimony and video highlights of the first two fights would go along way to convince the casual fan that they might be paying into witnessing, finally someone topplling Manny Pacquiao.

If the fight is promoted appropriately, it sells more PPV than any other fight in boxing aside from a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight of course.

.......also of note is that while Marquez carries a good chunk of the Latino buys that Mosley will not be able to bring in.

......and btw, Arum would not allow for GBP or Marquez promotions to solely promote the fight. If that were to happen, Arum would want to be compensated and have a guarantee in his and Pacquiao's pockets that the fight would sell over 1.2 million.

No promoter is going guarantee any fight making 1.2 million except for a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
.....but a JMM-Pac fight certainly has the history and all the ingredients to surpass 1.2 million with the right promotion.

Certainly however, that may be part of the problem......the right promotion to sell Marquez-Pacquiao is probably a promotion that Arum and Pacquiao dont want rehashed to the buying casual public.
It certainly sheds light that Manny Pacquiao is not Superman.

700 - 900 is not a bad number, actually my guess would be around the same as Pac-Hatton which was at 850K buys.

Now tell me how many PPV buys do you think JMM-Morales will get?

My guess is no more than 250K. :nut

Do you seriously think JMM fighting Morales is a wise move financially for JMM than a 3rd fight with Pac? :silly

Well Marquez is 37 years old and Morales is no the same but at least they deserve at least a good payday and easy fight for Marquez that is never on easy fight and Morales legend status make him worthy of at least one last good payment for retirement, Marques is only one year or two left, so a god payday from him like this is god for his now ending career.

Marquez demanded 5M plus 5/ppv total of 18M.....Floyd dominated, scored a knockdown, won a shutout against a joke fighter in Marquez..Marquez vs Floyd had only almost 1m ppv buys and Marquez last fight where berto was in the undercard had a gate attendance of less than 5k.while

Mosley demanded 3M plus 1/ppv total 7M....Fared better against Marquez who almost KO twice and made Floyd chicken dance and held him for dearlife wants less. Mosley vs Floyd had 1.5M ppv buys and Mosley last fight against a bigger runner Mora attracted more than 13K gate attendance.....

and now who is marketable in terms of PPV buys and gate attendance? Who is more competitive at WW? ITS MOSLEY!!!!!!
