ah... that had something to do with the big difference between floyd's and jmm's actual fighting weights.

there is no such difference when it comes to pac and jmm where their fighting weights are just separated by a few lbs.

No, the two aren't so easily comparable.

Mayweather was a natural 147 fighter, that duped JMM in to thinking it was a 144 catchweight. He had no intentions of ever making that weight, choosing instead to come in as comfortably as he usually does, and being more or less a junior middleweight on fight-night.

Pacquiao on the other hand, is at least letting JMM know the limit is going to be 147. Furthermore, he’s not even a welterweight; therefore in all probability, he won’t even come in as a welterweight. He’ll weigh around 142 the night before, and be his usual 148 when he enters the ring. The weights will actually be no different to the last time they met!

nobody really knows since he doesn't let HBO weigh him before his actual fights.

but the estimates say he was in the mid-150s while jmm was 145. about a 10-lb difference.

Fair points, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Yeah I didn't think he let them weigh him in his fights but I couldn't remember for sure because most fights I watch are on SkySports and they don't tell you fight night weights but he did look big for the Marquez fight.

Trust me, Chappy, it'll provide no significant advantage to Pacquiao.

The only thing it will do, however, is make Pacquiao's preperation that little bit easier by not having to 'worry' about making weight.

I hope not, I just want to see a competitive fight otherwise I'm not interested in it.

But like I said before on here I'm relatively new to boxing so I'm catching up and learning everyday so I wouldn't argue with someone who has clearly been watching it a lot longer than I have.

Oh I see. Well welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll catch up in no time during your stay here.

Since the last time these two met (Pacquiao and Marquez), a lot has changed. Pacquiao's improved immensely, whilst Marquez has slowly declined physically. Due to the familiarity between the two and the brilliant clash of styles, Marquez may still cause Pacquiao a few problems here and there. But Pacquiao, being a different animal now, unfortunately won’t allow it to be as competitive as the previous two encounters (in my opinion).

So try not to be too disappointed if you see Pacquiao making it a bit one-sided.

    Thanks.

That's why I wanted it to be at 140 to be more competitive but as you say it might not make much difference. But like I said earlier Pacquiao doesn't have to come down to 140, he's the draw here, he calls the shots so I don't blame him for not coming down to 140.

But the fight probably won't even take place. Bob 'the greedy *******' Arum is looking towards an old, shot Mosley should a Mayweather-fight fail to be made.

147 is fair. Pac is the face of boxing, the cash cow. Why should he drop weight to give Marquez a pay day?

It's not like Pac is a big welter any way.

    Pure hilarity.

Just read what Bob arum and Pacs stable are saying.:patsch

They dont want Manny to have to worry about what he eats or weight period when hes in training camp.LOL

But every fighter Manny fights does have to worry about weight or what they eat in training camp.

Pacquiao's camp love to have the advantage, love to dish the demands out for a fight but hate to be givin demands.

If they wont do 140(which they wont!),JMM should push for a catch weight in between 140/147 for the weigh in.Let Pacquiao lose a couple of pounds in training instead of eating steaks and drinking shakes in between meals when the other guy is on a strict diet.

Now im not bashing Manny or doging his achievments...It is what it is.

Both 140 and 147 are fair to these two. In the end, pac and jmm may come below 147 at weigh-in and 144-148 at fight night. no weight-drain excuses, and they can train without minding their weight-loss regimes.
