Exactly. Its always easier for Pacquiao in training for that reason.

Let Manny worry about weight alil in training like his opponents.

I'm not with the consensus here that Pacquiao will weigh at about 147/148 lbs fightnight for a third fight with Marquez......

The reason Pacquiao has come in under the welter limit in every one of his Welterweight fights is that he knew that against bigger and natural welters, he'd have to use his feet more to move around the ring if he felt the others power.

......thats not going to happen vs Marquez.
Team Pac knows that they dont have to worry about Marquez overwhelming them with strenghth, so he does'nt really have to be as light on his feet to constantly lateral around the ring.

In Pacquiao' last fight with Margarito, there was some disagreement between Roach and Ariza on how heavy Pac should be for Margarito.......Ariza wanted Pacquiao to add mass, but Roach felt Pacquiao would need to be light and fast to avoid getting into exchanges with Margarito.......

.......the opposite I feel will happen vs Marquez......I believe that Roach and Ariza will bulk Pacquiaio up with the intention to have Pacquiao be that much stronger physically in the exchanges.

When Roach studies the tapes of the first two Marquez fights, he's going to see that one of the reasons why Marquez was'nt dettered by Pacquiao's volume and power was that Marquez was just as strong as Pacquiao stenghthwise.....
....so when Pacquiao was shooting off his fast power punches, Marquez was was comfortable sidestepping and then driving Pacquiao back with his strenghth of combination.....

When Marquez would shoot off aggresive counters and drove Pacquiao back, believe me Pacquiao could feel the strenghth of Marquez or he would not have been driven back constantly the way he was.

A weight of 147 lbs, I see Pacquiao coming in at the limit, and then being at the low 150's at fight time.

The way I see it, Marquez is best when he's weighing in the the very low 140's.......

Marquez weighed 145 lbs fightime vs Katsidis, but believe me, his training for Pacquiao will be much more intense than his training was for Katsidis.......the result will be that he'll be at the 145 lbs weight if not a pound or two less for Pacquiao.

I hate to bring this up, but I feel I must, as it will factor in the fight........
.......Pacquiao has the added advantage of using PED's to increase his lean mass, and believe me, he will use that vs Marquez to his advantage.

......this is why this matchup needs to be at 140 lbs contracted weight limit, and have Pacquiao carrying less lean muscle on him.

I've said it many times, if Pacquiao wants to welcome WADA testing for this Marquez fight in exchange for the fight to be fought at 147 lbs, I'm all for it......

147 lbs and WADA testing and Pacquiao imo gets knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez, because he surely is not going to carry the muscle he puts on as well without PED's!

147 lbs and bring in WADA ped testing up to the day of the fight!:deal

exactly....that's what annoys me about the 145 cotto weight and people saying "it's only 1 more pound from his last fight"

what they don't get is cotto had to focus more on his weight than his training (not that it made a difference in the end, especially with his AWFUL corner)

The difference is that both fighters would not struggle to make weight and JMM is in no position to dictate the terms if he wants another 3rd fight. I do understand however what you are saying. I just don't think it is smart and feasible for Pac to do it in this fight.

I voted 147, but it really does not matter for me.

140 - better for JMM since he has problems making 147
147 - better for Pac since he seem to float low to mid 140s.

Interesting theory. Do you know the heaviest Pac had weight in his previous fights including that of JMMs? Did he weight more than 150 lbs in any of his fight?

The reason Roach and Ariza were arguing on whether to bulk Pac up or not is because Pac himself complained that he felt sluggish. I don't think they would go in that direction again if this is the case.

Here is another theory on why JMM was able to drove Pac back with his counters and combinations is maybe because Pac was drained during their previous fights. So his punch resistance is not the same as when he does not need to shed weight like in his recent fights.

Weren't their last weigh-in weights within two and a half pounds of each other? Why does it matter? Pacquiao could probably make 135 just like Marquez and fight for the Linear/Ring, WBO and WBA lightweight title for crying out loud. ...He should do that, by the way. **** it.

    140...

If pac really wants to make a point he should do it at 44 though...

    Yep.

Surprised that 24 people so far think 147 is more "fair" than 140

Should be 135 but obviously that wont happen.

    140 or no fight hopefully.

    Reality 147 and outcome meaningless.
