Juan Manuel Marquez's camp has upped the ante for the Mexican to accept a fourth fight with Filipino boxing rival Manny Pacquiao.

After Marquez declared that he preferred Mexico to be the venue of a possible May 2012 metting with Pacquiao, here comes his trainer Ignacio 'Nacho' Beristain demanding a sky-rocketing purse for the best Mexican technical fighter today.

"$25 million on the table," said Beristain from his famous Romanza boxing gym in Mexico City.

Top Rank's Bob Arum, who promotes both Pacquiao and Marquez, signified his intention on his plan to stage a fourth fight between the two boxing rivals in the wake of the Filipino's controversial majority decision win over the Mexican last week in their welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Beristain pointed out that the mere fact a fourth fight is being thought about meant that Marquez could have been overlooked as the likely winner the last time.

"It only shows they realized that Juan Manuel had a clear win over Pacquiao. Otherwise, they wouldn't show this much interest (in making a fourth fight)," said Beristain.

"They have Pacquiao, the goose that lay the golden eggs and produces a lot of money, but (last) Saturday, he became a plucked chicken," Marquez's trainer added.

Marquez had his biggest payday of $5 million in his trilogy with Pacquiao. The 'Pacman' meanwhile, received $22 million in guaranteed prize money.

Pacquiao said he's willing to do it a fourth time. Marquez initially balked to the idea and instead, contemplated on retiring from boxing.

Upon arriving in Mexico City the other day, the 38-year-old reigning WBO and WBA lightweight champion, however, mentioned that he'll agree to fight the Filipino ring star again should the fight be held "in Mexico under my own conditions."

A rematch clause is stipulated in the Pacquiao-Marquez bout in case the Mexican wins, assuring him of a $10 million purse in the fourth fight. — JVP, GMA News

same reason why the second and third fight took too long to make.

Nice lets see if Arum truly wants the marquez fight now hahaha he deserves it too but arum is so greedy ... he cant fathom shelling out 25 million to the clear winner of the last fight ... hed rather pay him 10 and spend the other 15 paying people off

Meh, I might be alone here but I don't particularly want to see a 4th fight. Both fighters know each other so well, they'll just fight to a stale mate again. It's kind of predictable.
