You say it as if Cotto was a better boxer than Marquez.
Cotto wasn't even a better boxer than Canelo. Canelo outboxed him.

Both are HOFers, but neither are risking anything if this fight happens.

Cotto will either be too big or too drained and Marquez will be Roided to the gills or shot.

Cotto should be about Lara, Charlos, Martirosyan, etc....

Marquez should be about Thurman v Porter winner, Garcia or Spence.

This is a GOOD FIGHT.....NOTHING REMOTELY GREAT ABOUT IT.

    Nice GGG diss there though.

Cotto would get TOP 20 p4p ATG status if he fought GGG and won a second title at MW

Bradley is younger and faster than Cotto.
I said it for the Canelo fight that Cotto would not be faster than Canelo and I was right.
I'll say it for this Marquez vs Cotto, Cotto wont be the faster fighter, and that will make things easier for Marquez than they were vs Bradley.

Why? Because your hero didn't get a shot at him?

If this is still Hulkquez from the Bradley fight, then I pick him. Otherwise, Cotto.

This fight would be an example of how a size(Cotto) doesn't help if your facing and opponent with better skills(Marquez).

The only concerns here are JMM's age and his knee otherwise I would put my money on Marquez.

Its a great clash of styles, but JMM can't beat Cotto. He'll get outboxed and outslugged.

You think counter punching is the only skill in boxing? Just because Marquez does well vs Pac doesn't mean he's more skilled than Cotto. You are mentioning JMM's skill and say he would beat Cotto who is bigger than him. What happened vs Floyd, who is like Cotto and probably a lighter fighter than Cotto? JMM couldn't do a thing, while Cotto was much more competitive with Floyd.

Cotto's gameplan was much better than JMM's who was absolutely clueless in there and had no idea what to do because he always waits to counter punch and faced a better, faster counter puncher. Meanwhile, Cotto applied smart pressure and did much better.

That's not an accurate assessment. Cotto got a few hard licks in on Mayweather because Mayweather attacked Cotto. When you attack a fighter, it leaves one vulnerable.

Mayweather never took the fight to Marquez like he did Cotto because he had so much respect for Marquez' counterpunching ability. He didn't have that respect vs Cotto, thus taking more chances on the offensive.

Going into the Canelo-Cotto fight, a lot of posters in this forum felt Cotto was the better boxer, that he did better vs Mayweather than Canelo did.
When Mayweather was asked who the better boxer was, he point blank said Canelo was better at boxing than Cotto was.

.....and lastly, Cotto is nothing like Mayweather. Totally differenent styles. Cotto doesn't have the waist and head movements that Mayweather gives, and he certainly is nowhere near as quick or fast on the trigger than Mayweather which is what made it difficult on Marquez against Mayweather.

I'll sum it up this way. Against Mayweather, Marquez didn't hold a single physical advantage. Not one!

Marquez and Cotto have the identical height and reach advantage.
Speed and quickness imo go to Marquez.

Marquez actually is on par and has some physical advantages over Cotto he didn't have vs Mayweather.

I think the only clear advantage I could give Cotto is him being naturally the bigger fighter, but that imo will be offset by Marquez clear skill and conditioning advantage.

Cotto in deep trouble late in the fight against Marquez who will up the pace when Cotto is starting to fade as he always does.
    Cotto in trouble.
