Pac has never been a smart fighter. And Marquez trained strictly to go for the KO which he did. And he proved he was the better boxer when he wanted to, and that he was the better, stronger fighter out of the 2.
KO Artists,a nd punchers tend to get hit a lot more than pure boxers and counter punchers... Is there any doubt that last Saturday night JMM was the Puncher instead of the boxer? JMM came in with a punchers game plan, hence the reason he was eating leather. Its the price punchers pay to KO their opponent. Didn't JMM say he was only looking for the KO... He didn't say he was going to box and hope for the KO, he said he was going to KO Pac... JMM doesn't usually talk this way.. So as a result, in order to land his KO punches, he needed to have his feet lanted more, which mean he needed to become more stationary, and as a result it gave the image that Pac was dominating, when in reality it was a cat and mouse game and the Cat ate the ****ing mouse in he 6th!!! :happy You know very well that punchers need to eat leather to land there punches, JMM was the better Puncher, better KO artist, and he was already the better boxer than Pac... Destroyed Pac. JMM > Pac
I really think that Marquez was showing some major signs of decline in this fight, he looked slower and easier to hit and wasn't countering as effectively as in previous fights, the added muscles definitely made him slower. I'm not going to say he got lucky because it was a skill kill shot but he was in real trouble up until that bomb landed, more so then any other time against Pac besides the first round of #1. I'm sure that even JMM was surprised that he was able to stone cold KO Pac like that and as much as he set it up and delivered the blow, Pac also walked in full force without his feet set. It all went right for Marquez in that instance.
Yes, because they afford their opponent many more opportunities to punch. The rate Marquez was shipping punches at is concerning for any high-end professional no matter what the style. That is beyond debate. Furthermore, the eye doesn't lie: slower, easier to hit, heavier hands in the bad as well as the good sense of the word.
Yeah, no question it was skill that delivered the KO win and not luck. Hell no it wasn't luck, definitely not. It was skill. And a great eye for the facts. It must have been horrible for Marquez, seeing what it was he needed to do for 36 rounds but not quite able to make it happen then he finally lands it.
If he's showing some slight decline at 39 yet still sparkling the second biggest draw in boxing and scoring his most famous and satisfying victory,I can live with that.
JMM is just better than PAC. This is the fourth time he beats him. He set that shot up. No luck involved. He landed the same shot in the fifth. JMM is just better. He is now 4-0 against PAC. JMM is PAC'S daddy.
I agree that he was looking to be the puncher but i'm sure that he wasn't anticipating getting his nose broken etc. If anything, Marquez getting busted up and coming back makes his victory and the fight itself that much better.
I disagree.. I believe JMM knew exactly what he was doing. Sure he got hit, and I'm sure it hurt him, but he never backed out or clinched when there was an exchange. He knew he was going to KO Pac, and in the exchanges I was amazed at how easy he was ducking pac's left and getting his body work in. He knew Pac was going to make his usual mistakes and he patiently waited. Once he KD pac in the 3rd, he knew he would defitnitely KO Pac. That is why he swung everytime Pac swung. He nearly KO Pac in the 3rd, and KO Pac in the 6th. Had Pac gotten up, he would have KO Pac possibly by the 9th imo.. JMM invested in the body for the latter rounds, and Pac's movement wasn't going to help his stamina in the latter rounds.
I'd break them down like this 1: Drawn on my card. I'm happy with the official scorecard here. But my feeling always was that Marquez was the superior boxer based upon the way the fight unfolded. 2: I had it to Marquez by one point. I felt strongly about my card. But in the end, a point is a point and this can go either way. 3: Clear to Marquez. Very close to being a robbery IMO. Judges got the wrong winner. 4: Nobody taking this away from Dinamita.
With what? How can you possibly disagree? 1) Marquez got hit at a rate of nearly 50% which is very high. 2) He looked slower due to the extra bulk/his advancing years. What, out of these two things do you disagree with?
Theres a good angle for a 5th fight, it's that Marquez was getting beaten up. Almost knocked out. Pacs left was zeroed in, combinations were landing well and Marquez had a broken nose with a bloody face. Marquez wasn't that active, he wasn't ad******g but possibly just loading up his right. Fron what we saw had it gone 12 I wouldn't like to see the end result for Juan. I wouldn't mind if a 5th one happened. Its a boxer fighter match up made in heaven.
It works both ways. Pac was clearly going all out for the KO to prove a point to everyone, which cost him dearly. This is my first comment since the fight, and I'd just like to state the obvious: what a truly remarkable fight that was. Gripping from start to finish. ...I had no idea about the clash of feet, which I need to see again, but which surely looks, at first glance, just from the point of physics, that it affected the KO (though it was a masterful counter).
