Where does that myth come from Ayla was ahead on the cards ? He didnt land anything, he maybe won 1 or 2 rounds. Abraham was kinda bored. I know Ayala himself said he felt he got screwed. He said that in an interview @ringsidereport. He basically said the ref should have let him continue, what is totally BS cause he was landing on the canvas face first. As i read it i got so upset at that moment i felt like i had to contact the interviewer. I felt he should have confronted him with facts, cause Ayla was talking a lot of **** about Abraham. I saw Lorenzo - Marquez, and Marquez is not the type of boxer who gets the job done vs Abraham. I think it will play out like against Koren Ghevor. Marquez will steal a few rounds in the beginning and once Abraham is in his rhytm, he will take over.
I've seen the IBF eliminator against Lorenzo and I was impressed with Marquez' cool and experience/inteligence to control the action. Raul also has a gritty chin and a warrior's mentality but this guy's flesh cuts that easily. He doesn't have the reach advantage or any superior speed or technique so why wouldn't he get himself in situations like against Campas or Mosley? Marquez can't stand 12 rounds with a heavy hitter like AA without getting slashed so the fight should not go the distance. Gory mess it'll be.
The only way i see this hapening is if Abraham is not fully focused (maybe looking ahead to a Pavlik fight) and cruisers most of the early and middle rounds which he is known to do against what he see's as inferior opposistion and Marquez sneaks a points win. To be honest i can't even see this happening as i think the fight is in Germany so Marquez would have to be a clear winner to even get a SD (sorry for that dig Germans). Saying that though AA is good at picking up the pace when needs to. I see this as being a typical AA fight when he fights the less marquee names of the division; not much activity in the early rounds whislt holding the high guard and taking most of Marquez's shots on the gloves. Then as the fight progresses and AA gets into a rythem he will open up more and eventually KO marquez in the mid-late rounds (8-10)
Abraham can be outboxed. He's not very mobile, and his jab is only effective for the first few rounds. But if Marquez gets sloppy for even a second, it's light's out for him. NOTE: I haven't seen Marquez, so I don't know if he's capable of outboxing Abraham.
I yet have to see Abraham getting outboxed. Its more that he doesnt do **** in the first rounds beside holding his guard high. I dont know if you can call that "outboxed". Even these rounds Abraham is mostly winning with 2,3 flurries just cause he is doing a lot more damage than his opponent hitting his guard for 02:30. Koren Ghevor had a hell of a work rate and looked good for the first rounds, but in the end he was behind on the cards when Abraham knocked him out.
When you fight a bunch of nobodies who can't box, then it's easy to not be outboxed. Abraham is an excellent slugger who has ridiculous power in either hand, but a good boxer, although there is a lack of them right now, would reduce him to having a puncher's chance.
If I remember correctly the same percentages were being thrown around for the Pavlik - Taylor fight and look who ended up winning that
Marquez will probably lose by TKO on cuts within 6. Marquez cuts way too easily, and has a bad habit of blocking punches with his face.
