this will not be competitive. theres a huuuuuuuuuuuuge gap between giovanni seguro and arthur abraham
Well, i agree to some extend. But you need an elite guy to get the job done. Kessler, Taylor, Pavlik are all able to win a UD. Not only able, they were highly favoured if it goes to the cards. When you look at Abraham' record it becomes quite clear he was matched soon against decent opposition. So he faced 36 - 1 Nader Hamden in his 12th pro fight, 18 - 1 Gardner in his 14 th fight, and 40 - 2 Eastman in his 16th fight. While these fighters are 2nd tier fighters and nowhere near elite, Abraham himself wasnt near the fighter he is now. But he had not much problems beating them on the cards (he tkod Hamden in the 12th, but was wide ahead on the cards). That was quite impressive, especially his win vs. Eastman, who was easily a top10 fighter at this time. While a very good boxer could have been enough for a rookie like Abraham was 3,4 years ago, i think you need now another calibre of fighter to outpoint Abraham. yet, it has to be seen what Abraham does if he is back on the cards. He never ever had the pressure to do more. He is absolute able to increase his workrate, he always does as the fight progresses.
I agree with you, but I figured if I threw around the word, "elite," people would say that there are no boxer that fit this category. I agree though that there are very few, and Abraham would still have a very good chance considering he is such a devestating puncher. Pavlik will have to be extremelly careful and not get sloppy or it could be lights out. If Pavlik goes right for Abraham though, I would have to favor Abraham. At this point though, I think it would be disrespectful to Pavlik because I feel he is not an elite boxer like a Floyd Mayweather or a younger more mobile, but still very intelligent Bernard Hopkins, but he is an all around fighter that can box well enough to beat Abraham, but must be very cautious in his approach because Abraham is probably the hardest puncher up to maybe light heavyweight even.
This fight is a joke. Marquez is gonna get demolished. Get real. Marquez earned his shot at the title and the payday that comes with it but he is gonna get his ass handed to him.
I don't see Abraham as good as some people here are trying to make us believe, but I can't see Marquez upsetting Abraham...
I am still waiting for Abraham to wear a sombrero coming to the ring - like PBF, his uncle Roger or Hatton...that would make him a lot of fans in the US when fighting there as he got the spirit of a warrior...
There is no way Marquez wins this fight. Abraham doesn't get enough credit. I use to be a skeptic to, as I generally am with Euro fighters. But this guy is the real deal, after his gutsy points win in the first Miranda bout where he showed heart other world champions could only dream of, I started to pay attention to him. And what did I find, a force to be reckoned with and the man to beat at middleweight (cough, kelly pavlik, WTF, cough). Abraham will brutalize Marquez.
Did Ayala really make such statements? Then have a look at this: [YT]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KAbkAnjh6KY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KAbkAnjh6KY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/YT]
Yes he did. Well even if you lose without getting screwed in germany, i see a tendency from fighters that they are pulling the germany card as an excuse. Not saying that every decision made was fine, but even in germany some foreign fighter just lose cause the hometown fighter was better. Thats what made me so mad about this Ayala interview: He pulled the "germany" excuse out of his ass, and well...i have seen more than one people who thought Ayala was competetive in this fight. So it obviously works quite fine.
I just don't seen Marquez winning a decision in Germany and I REALLY don't see him stopping AA. He was able to outsmart Lorenzo, but I just don't see that working against AA.
Marquez is going to take the worst beating of his overrated career. Anyone remember what he looked like after the limited Yori Boy Campos butchered him? Well he's gonna look twice as bad after this fight. It will be good for everyone involved if Abraham can just blitz Raul and take him out fast. Marquez is in real danger here due to his big heart, good chin, and shitty defence. I see a vicious ass whooping in this one.
