Manny's 1-2 is different from the 1-1-2. The 1-2 combo had the right distance that's why Marquez gets no time ad******g, while for the 1-1-2, Manny doesn't have the proper distance that's why he gallops on the first right jab/feint, and when he sees the right distance from the first feint, he unleashes his 1-2. Problem is, Marquez already knows that the 1-2 is coming.

Let us see sample 1, as Pac does the 1-1-2 thing, JMM already knows what's next:

Excellent view of Bogo's gif. Can't for the life of me figure out why Juan would try to lead with the left hook up top, because he's just not quick enough to pull it off against this guy.

Guess he learned from this in later fights and brought it down low to set up his right hand.

I remember Marquez ran into a similar right hand against Barrera, who knocked him down, and ran to a kneeled down Marquez and hit him to the back of the head.

Marquez came up like a warrior that time also.

Yup solid points, and thanks for digging it up :happy

He was landing it with consistency in that round, capitalizing on Manny's cut right eye, and having won a few consecutive rounds prior, he was taking advantage of having Manny on a string. But Manny instinctively saw a window to un-string himself and landed a thunderous blow that I'm not sure JMM saw coming. But you're right, in the 3rd fight, Marquez took less risks leading and set his shots up more craftily.

Looking back that might be one of Marquez's most impressive performances, even with the fact it was competitive throughout. Barrera was still a very game and complete fighter at that stage, and Marquez showed new dimension coming forward. That shot from Barrera was similar, he was playing counter-puncher for much of the fight behind his excellent jab.

Marquez was forced to even before the bell for round 1.

No way was Marquez going to get a decision sitting back and letting the fight pace come along at a snails pace which MAB would have done, throwing only the occasional jab and never engaging if Marquez did'nt.

Marquez could beat MAB at any type of game, but he was'nt going to get a fair decision against HBO's sentimental favorite fighter in counter mode and few exchanges in the fight.

A non-eventful fight was'nt going to go Marquez' way and Marquez understood that and took it to MAB forcing him to have to fight!

Having to turn up the volume and consistently come foward when Marquez is so used to sitting back in the pocket was impressive indeed! :deal

I dont get what the parralel is?

Marquez slipped to his left side and fired a short right hand full torque in the KO shot. Perfection!

The 10th round gif of Pacquiao landing his shot here is a reactionarly shot.
Pacquiao does'nt set Marquez up for it, he just ducks and reacts without much leverage to the shot.

Imo Marquez loses his balance after the shot because he's trying to get back in position to look at Pacquiao. You could see Marquez quickly looking back to make certain Pacquiao does'nt come at him with a followup.
Trying to quickly get back in position to view Pacquiao is the reason imo why his legs lose balance, as when he's hit, his legs are carrying him foward and away from Pacquiao.

It's the same angle, the same maneuver of the upper body, and a similar arc of the rear hand. They're not the same in impact or leverage and Marquez anticipated the opening of the shot better, but they're similar. "Reactionary" doesn't make it any less impressive.

I think Marquez's own momentum makes him lose his balance a bit. Walked into the shot. If he wanted to turn and look at Manny, he would have just pivoted. I don't think JMM saw the shot coming.

Pacquiao's head comes down to low for his shot to have any real leverage behind it. It looks like he did'nt even have his eye on the target when he lands the shot, as his main focus was ducking the shot.
Another thing is that Pacquiao's shot is wider, Marquez shoots his alot straighter with all his mass behind him, which is why the impact was so great.

Pacquiao ducks under the wide hook, Marquez slips to the side Pacquiao's jab is the main difference.

They're not identical, we know that much. If they were, it would be Marquez laid out cold on the canvas! Pac's is lesser in impact, but similar in maneuver.

I think the only real similarities is that both avoid a shot to land there's, other than that, I dont see a whole lot thats similar.

We'll agree to disagree my friend! :good

The shots are not identical, but there are similarities.

Both recipients are made to walk on to shots because they are off balance.
Whether it's a slip or a roll, both boxers who land the shot have or end up with superior foot placement.
If Pacquiao was less offensive in his approach, Marquez definitely could have been out cold on the canvas.
