Marquez's next fight- who you prefer Pacquiao, Rios or Bradley.

Marquez needs to stop ducking the real p4p king 48-0 Chris John. Barrera, Pacquiao, and Morales ducked him too. At least Marquez faced him once and got schooled.

 

Manny didn't "give" Marquez anything. He earned them on his own merit and even gave Manny the chance to redeem himself with the 4th.

 

Pacquiao 5. 2 ATG who put on close exciting fights. I sometimes wonder about boxing fans these days.

I would understand if people wanted each fighter to have a fight inbetween but when fans are saying they dont ever want to see a rematch iit is a sad day. :-(

Bradley would be the most complete fight. Marquez needs to stay active though. He can't wait around until Bradley's next open date.

As much as I'd like to see JMM beat Pac Juan more time, I think 4-0 is quite conclusive in the rivalry.

 

Marquez would probably want the 147 belt, and Tim seems comfortable enough there, he's fighting Prodnikov there.

Nonsense. Pacquiao could have easily ignored Marquez in 2004 like Morales and Barrera did yet he decided to fight him. Then it was Pacquiao who offered him a rematch only to be turned down as Marquez priced his self out and went on to lose to John overseas on a PPV that officially sold $0. Again, Pacquiao gives Marquez a rematch when he could have easily ignored him claiming he got a gift against Barrera, which MANY believed he did. The third fight was yet another offer from Pacquiao for a Marquez that proved nothing in the division despite his courageous effort against Mayweather, which explains why Pacquiao went in as a heavy favorite. The fourth fight could have been ignored as well yet Pacquiao still made it whether he had options or not he could have fought anyone else, they picked Marquez. Anyone that will dare say Marquez doesn't owe Pacquiao is absolutely clueless or deliberately hating in pathetic fashion.

 

In 2012 Pac beat Bradley and Rios lost to the little know Abril. I think Pac is probs the most "elite" out of the 3

Who else was he going to fight? He was running out of opponents after fighting a shot Mosley. Manny made over 24 million dollars while JMM made just about 4 or 5, had the catch-weight at 144 when Marquez was asking for lower, and was thought to be able to beat Marquez definitively. Marquez had kept on winning, established a far better legacy at lightweight, and had just come off of a FOTY victory, still calling out Pacquiao. Still, the story going into that fight was that Manny had improved so much, he was going to overcome the older, smaller Marquez with his improvements. That's the story that would have emerged; Manny conquering his only lasting demon.

When that didn't happen and a majority of fans were screaming robbery after Marquez put on a clinic, Marquez could have left the sport with his middle finger in the air and told Top Rank to **** right off. It was a disgusting robbery, the clearest victor had emerged of all the 3 fights, against all odds, and they took it from him. Nobody would have blamed him.

You're telling me that it was Marquez's legacy that was going to suffer going into the 4th? That setting up the fight with all of Manny's advantages was a favor, after making Marquez wait years (from fight 1 to fight 2, and from fight 2 to fight 3) for a justified rematch? And then, specifically going into fight 4, where Marquez had nothing to lose and Pacquiao's stock was on the line, it was Manny who did Marquez the favor of fighting at the full 147 limit, giving him the same purse, and ignoring his requests for a change in venue? HELL no.

 

He could have fought Bradley as he already proved he could find other options after the third Marquez fight. For a big name in the sport finding opponents isn't exactly difficult considering everyone rising would want that payday. Even after picking Marquez everyone(myself included) thought that fight was a joke and a third round KO at best for Pacquiao considering Marquez' performance against Mayweather at the weight.

I wouldn't consider close fights robberies worth raising the middle finger for. Then again, I had Marquez winning by two points and many I know had it a draw, for Pacquiao or for Marquez. Moving away with his finger in the air would have proven and done nothing for him and his career, which is why he accepted the fourth fight and signed a new great conditioner(which doesn't come for free).

It was Pacquiao who did Marquez the favor for making the fight. Pacquiao was the big name in the sport at the time, not Marquez so whoever he fights he's technically giving them a shot of a lifetime regardless of opponent. Very simple and clear really and Marquez accepted it because of that otherwise he would have stayed at the lower weights where he was doing good. I never said Marquez' legacy would have suffered at all but his bank account would have which is why he accepted the offer for both his legacy and bank account. Remember, it was Pacquiao that offered him the fight and took a lot of heat for it going in the third fight.
