For the women boxing fans, seems Savannah Marshall won her MMA debut by TKO last night. Oddly enough Adam Smith was commentating too.

Looks like her next fight is a Shields rematch in the cage. What’s the trilogy going to be, pistols at dawn?

How big would the rematch be? I know it’s MMA but surely Boxxer do not want Marshall fighting Sheilds again on another platform.

You wouldn't think so, given PFL is shown here on DAZN and ESPN in the US...

Got sucked into the first fight but Shields was levels above Marshall so got no interest in a rematch in any format.

I'll watch this. Always fancied Marshall to take Shields out on the cobbles / in a cage

She was in with a jobber who couldn't throw a proper punch last night.

Even still, it looks like modern boxing doesn't transfer over to the smaller gloves that well. The punch mechanics must be different in small open fingered gloves with light wrapping vs heavily taped 8/10 ouncers.

Your hands become weapons when they're heavily armoured like in modern boxing. You can punch with all your power and not worry about injuring your hands.

It could also be the range though. As MMA is even further out than Muay Thai. Boxers are always in punching range.

Have many male boxers crossed over? It seems like a sensible thing for women to do, given fewer opportunities in the pro boxing ranks (especially for someone like Shields who seems set for a run from middle right up to heavy!) but for men it'd probably be an escape. Other than post-retirement fights I can't think of any off the top of my head.
