i am interested not only do i have a few bets on it but its a good fight boxer v puncher and this doesn't happen that often in women fight
Agree. Watch the last few rounds of Marshall against Rankin where Marshall utterly bamboozles Rankin with her movement. It's as if they are in a choreographed dance and Rankin's role is to throw punches that miss, over and over. The relaxation, the flow, the switch-hitting, the catalogue of shots, the varying of power are pretty special.
This will be a better watch than Tony Dosh PPV plodding away for 24 rounds for 2 tame points defeats against Usyk
Just watched Sky's all access thing - Shields is such a child. Still think she'll get it on points though
AJ lives in your head rent free. Only you would bring AJ up in a thread that is about a women's fight. On the fight I fancy Marshall. Think she stops Shields 7-10
Shields has good upper body and head movement but has very heavy feet, her footwork is very slow. She has Canelo like feet without the power. I think she'll do well the early rounds but Marshall will target her body, as she has great bodywork on anyone who hodls there feet. Because Shields doesn't move her feet, as she gets more tired in the fight I expect to see her start eating heavier jabs and start to get grinded down (somewhere around the 6th round). That's when Marshall's pivoting and relaxed style will come into it's own. Whether or not that will be enough to win her the fight who knows but I do expect Shields to struggle later in the fight. As long as Marshall doesn't load up on shots and miss a ton early on, she must know the early rounds are where Shields will have the advantage, keep her working and once she begins to slow down that's when Marshall has more success and will land the heavy shots. I don't see Shields having the speed of foot later in the fight to keep away from Marshall and if she tries to smother and hold, eventually she walks onto a big uppercut.
I notice in the later rounds of most of her fights, Shields mouth is often wide open, she often stands still posing and showboating (presumably to recuperate after her flurries), and rather huffs and puffs to victory. And this is against opponents who offer very little, who cannot punch, who are often just trying to see out the fight. Against Marshall's intense ramping-up pressure, and power like Shields has never faced, I can see Shields gassing badly.
Just watched the gloves are off - main take from it is that I've probably taken jobbies that had more class than Shields does.
I don’t know anything about these two but just watched the Jonny nelson round table. My thoughts based SOLELY on carefully studying this footage: Shields’ self talk is pure confidence and full of self belief. Bulletproof winners mindset. Classic American Midwest fighter mentality, her self talk reminded me a lot of a Floyd Mayweather Jr in the last few years of his career. Losing simply not an option. She knows how hard she has worked to get where she is and doesn’t see the same in her opponent. There were big clues for me when Shields immediately picked up on some of Marshall’s own self talk not quite being pure self confidence. She sniffed it out instantly. This suggests to me Shields truly believes Marshall is not on her level. Marshall: very calm and confident on the surface. But something off about her long stares and silences: fully believes in her power, and that Marshall won’t have felt anything like it before. But perhaps doesn’t believe in a lot else. My sense was she feels her power is all she has here. She talked about outboxing her but didn’t seem to believe it as much as when she was talking about her power. Also final body language tell was when they agreed to shake hands at the end, Marshall got up from her seat to shake hands as a mark of respect and/or deference whereas shields half heartedly offered her hand, stayed where she was. Made her opponent come to her. Prediction based on this round table: Marshall will hurt Shields badly at some point in the fight, could be early, if Shields survives she will adjust and win the fight comfortably. Perhaps via schooling. This feels like a Mayweather Mosley type scenario.
She's a budget Serena Williams wannabe - with the attire and look, the "GOAT" (GWOAT) nonsense, and has a serious bag of chips on her shoulder at not getting the same level of admiration despite competing in a women's sport nobody watches.
