The whole 'voluntary defence' thing has to stop. It's nothing but a racket to get people paying these ridiculous alphabet "governing bodies" which are no more than promotional companies. Saudis buying The Ring gives some kind of sense of their direction - if they have that as their 'title' and therefore their own rankings, they might actually do it properly.
The fact that since I've first heard the stories from Billy (Who is someone I know very well and have spent a lot of time with) he was beaten by Michael Hunter, this stopped his progression and getting fights earlier than now. I'm not saying that he isn't being avoided but stating that its not just a new thing to try get these guys to fight him now. I am genuinely interested in seeing him face the top guys in the division as he has skill and can punch, no matter what anyone says there will always be a question mark against his heart when he is getting pressure put on him but that will go away if he is involved in a fight where he has to dig deep and maybe get off the floor to win.
If you want to name drop Nelson why don’t you believe your pal Nelson when he says Bakole’s shouldnt have been near a ring that night against Hunter
Did I say I believe everything that he says? No just that I know him well lol Its simple tbh if he believes that Martin shouldn't have fought Hunter that night then its his job as both coach and manager to look after his fighter and not let him fight. Billy is never going to come out and say... by the way Martin choked or quit vs Hunter.. that just doesn't help him going forward. Whether he was or wasn't in a fit state that night is irrelevant now, they took the fight, lost the fight and have had to deal with the consequences of that decision. Same as any decision in life, they may regret it now but it won't change the facts of what happened.
it also doesn't change fact that bakole wasn't right and that's only reason he lost. He would pulverise Hunter ffs take your green-tinted spectacles off david. Did yer mate Billy poach Martin from under yer nose or something? Seems like you got an axe to grind bud
right, that's it, i'm fed up with this and here's @billy nelson let's get it on both of you boys hammer and tongs no holds barred. @Beale think highly of bakole and i'm sure he knows at least as much about boxing as you david, are you saying beale's wrong? he's not often wrong
Come on mate I was badly wrong when Andy Ruiz battered Anthony Joshua on 5 day's notice thinking it was an easy 2 round blow out the other way.
The Hunter fight was surely a calculated risk from Bakole's team, just one that didn't pay off at the time. It still took Hunter until the 10th round to stop him when he was out on his feet, and Hunter was on a roll back then that carried on into the next few fights. No way Martin choked or quit; he just got a boxing lesson and ran out of gas, which, considering he was a 10-fight novice, is not a bad thing. Didn't Carl Thompson do something similar to Haye? Stick him in with Bakole now, and it's a different outcome, and just maybe he needed that loss to wake him up, as since then, he's been bashing people up for fun and looking good doing it. Sadofora bashing up Mayweather in sparring changed his attitude, and maybe Bakole got a valuable lesson against Hunter, and didn't Fury technically lose to McDermott at a similar stage in his career?
No axe to grind but seems like you are jumping to his defense at every opportunity, I'm only playing devils advocate....
Of course it was seen as a calculated risk, one which I expected Martin to win handily but as you say the risk didn't pay off and instead of just using it as exactly that... we dared but lost and have learnt from the experience we have people saying he wasn't right and shouldn't have been in the ring. If this is true then imo it makes the people around Martin should take responsibility for the defeat. A fighter will never willingly back out of a fight and the decision should be taken out of their hands (if its as bad as it is rumoured to be)
I doubt he’s name dropping Billy Nelson you know this poster is from the granite city gym in Aberdeen and is brothers with Lee. He’s probably met bigger stars than Billy Nelson.
Clearly don't know the game. There isnt a single man in that divison including Usyk that looks as good as Ruiz done when training. Even seeing him train you would know he's an animal. Suppose if he brought out an aftershave and said he was bi-polar you might have hopped on it.
