Technical in what ? And with regards to your opening sentence.......insightful in what ? I am not a trainer nor matchmaker but I do know both have a role.........an independent role. I have watched Powell for a long time..........and long before the perma-tan too......and all I have ever seen as you have mentioned is him blaring home his opinion when they rise to there feet for the next round. Thats him forcing his opinion/instinct home........and of all I have seen of him in this regard......is not what has been spoken of in the corner prior. Maybe am wrong........and feel free to correct me but that's lack of experience...........but it makes sense given he has never worked with the fighter 24/7 for months on end previously.......no ? I remember when Bellew was under Farnell and people laughed when he said think of the family/kids etc.....but they don't work with the fighter day in day out.
His job is as a second not a trainer that's why he doesn't say much I have heard a lot of ex boxers say he can be fight changing in the corner when he reads the riot act And he must be the busiest man in British boxing.is there a job he doesn't do from matchmaking to training himself for years You don't get that much experience and work without knowing your stuff, also when he has been on boxnation as a co commentator he is insightful But Martin gethin last night was a different story
Powell asked him to give it a go for a round, which I think is fair enough. Gethin wasn't being that badly hurt in there and it's likely Dean didn't know he'd perforated his ear drum. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Gethin to get a world title shot, it was worth trying the extra round. He went out, gave it his best shot and then pulled himself out of there without taking too much more. No harm done. Enjoyed the fight though. As someone who binned off BoxNation after Haye/Chisora and only signed up again recently, they're doing a decent job of keeping my interest this time around. A fun little card on a weekend where there's not much else going on.
i dont remember it staying in the gym when the likes of bellew, gavin left you was on here putting all the bad stuff under the sun about them whats the difference in this situation? i also heard a little whisper youve started pestering frankie again you going to give us an insight on this ??
Was heading out when ya posted this and I hear what ya saying ginger. With regards to me saying lack of experience........wrong use of words maybe. He is skilled and has seen more than probably most trainers in all his time.......but I don't like seeing him talking over a trainer. I know that a wee shoutout can be a positive when the bell goes for a round but I also think it can undo a focus/plan/zone a fighter is in with regards to the minutes break (He does it nearly everytime with every fighters corner he works in........just seems habit rather than a thought out effective manouvering to me) I remember him doing Enzo Macs corner Vs. McPhilly and thought he was bangon......ran a great corner when it was him being the boss (might have the wrong fight ?) Anyways...
Arnie ent been pestering me at all! An me an dean have had quite few arguments over silly things but he is good to have in the corner, well when his not slapping ur chest haha. He knows his stuff.
Yeah enzo Shane when enzos dad has passed away I think dean doesn't mind ruffling a few feathers and frankies comment of chest slapping is good,he loves that I love the dodgy rumours that start on here, frankie and arnie one small example
