Mathews is getting poked in the belly and backed into the ropes. Mathews counters with stretch-out jabs while stepping outside and tries placing a cannonball right. Gethin is doubling jabs and forcing clinches as his arm shoots out past the back of Mathews' neck. Clubbing rabbit punch by Gethin, unseen by the ref. Lots of leaning down and grinding by Gethin, making it physical up close. Mathews backs up and floats a few jabs, backed into a corner and leaping forward to tie up. Gethin waves at some Mathews jabs with his left, knocking them down.

Round 5

Mathews is backing up and leaning away from the space-invading Gethin jab. Gethin is hardly even needing to snap it, just crowding Mathews and using his length advantage. Mathews is coiling up and slinging himself forward with 1-2s hoping to stem Gethin off. Gethin smacks down the jabs and lets Mathews' crosses roll off his bicep, crowding in and working counter uppercuts on the body. Jab between the gloves by Gethin, leaning forward and letting Mathews slaps at the sides of his head while dropping in a right hand.

Round 6

Mathews is putting up earmuffs and dropping into a seated position as he lets Gethin jab and hook in, everything blocked. Looping rights and left hooks by Mathews, exploding as Gethin takes a break. Gethin drops in overhand rights and Mathews raises his left arm horizontally to bar them from reaching his face. Mathews buries his face in Gethin's chest as Gethin unloads several light jabs and overhands. Mathews backs out and triples a jab while circling left. FLUSH 1-2-3 by Mathews, clinching after landing and snapping Gethin's head back. Jab and whipping right by Mathews, sitting back as Gethin approaches. Mathews claps Gethin on the neck but keeps punching, landing his next 1-2 as Gethin lingers halfway into the pocket, hesitating a moment too long to commit to either pressing in and clinching or stepping out in retreat.
