Round 7

Mathews is ducking and tossing up rights as Gethin jabs in on him. Clinch. Mathews shoves Gethin a few steps before the break. Another clinch. Gethin travels up Mathews' back with right hand chops, to his nape. Gethin takes a clubbing right on his left temple in return as they have a prolonged shoving match. Left hook on the body by Gethin upon separation. Mathews slides out and pecks up at Gethin's face with a strong jab. They press together, forearm to forearm, Mathews breaking free with a hop backward and uppercut beneath Gethin's arms. Pressed close again, they both slap down low. Mathews backs out, jabs and uppercuts with some long clap-down rights mixed in.

Nah. He did very well in the first two minutes, though it was a war, but Mathews took control at the end.

Round 8

Mathews is clasping onto Gethin, pushing off and clapping up top with a right behind a couple of jabs. Rinse & repeat. Gethin is throwing jabs and pumping in right hands on a downward slant coming forward. Jab and uppercut combos from outside by Mathews.

Round 9

Mathews is catching Gethin's flurries on his gloves, pressed together in prayer form. Mathews unloads when Gethin stops, then moves in and ties up. Very effective stuff from Mathews, stop and go and ugly. Doule jabs backing up by Mathews. Gethin walks him down and gets snatched in a headlock. Break. Another clinch. Gethin jabs at the same time as Mathews, knuckle pad hitting knuckle pad. Mathews ducks a wild hook and jabs Gethin in the belly as Gethin chops down at the back of his head with his right.

Round 10

Mathews is tossing up straight flurries as he tracks around the ring. Mathews pauses in the corners and fortifies as Gethin comes in hailing light blows on him, all blocked. Clinch. Mathews is working uppercuts with his left arm held captive. Gethin walks onto a couple of jabs in pursuit after the break and slaps wide at the body. Looping rights by Gethin stumbling forward, thinking Mathews was close enough to brace himself on with the left hand but misjudging distance and timing of their respective movements. Mathews ducks a big right hand and skirts off the ropes, swooping in and tying up. Mathews backs up with his gloves down by his knees, rolling and twitching them.

Round 11

Mathews is pumping double jabs up at Gethin and swatting at the body with hooks stepping left. Gethin is hacking at him with soft rights and flapping quick loose-wrist lefts inside. Mathews backs out and pumps his jab. Mathews lowers his guard circling at mid-range and is caught on the jaw with a lone right hand. Mathews throws a combo up at Gethin's head and dives in past Gethin's flurry. Stiff up-jab by Mathews, snapping Gethin's head back. Mathews is bending his knees and loading up big L&R hooks on the body while backing up. Clinch. Gethin now the one holding on. Gethin shoves at Mathews and shoots up from the hip with both hands. Mathews backs away, making him miss.
