Thursday in Glasgow, eight rounds headlining a small hall show. The young Scotsman, a second generation pugilist (his dad Robert "The Nobbins King" Harkin challenged Pat "The Black Flash" Barrett for the Lonsdale belt at light welter in '89 and many felt he was robbed), is looking to snap a two defeat skid during the pandemic after beginning his career 13-0. My last glimpse of Harkin was in his loss to Michael McKinson. This was my final score and remark on that one: Needless to say, none too flattering a memory. Did he look any better while he lasted against Kaisee Benjamin? The opponent they've flown in from Ghana has a typically padded record for that country and has never fought outside Africa - but, he does pack some wallop. At least the crushing tomato cans variety. Could be a banana peel if the not terribly durable Harkin is expecting an easy day at the office.

I really think we might see a major embarrassment here for the Dunbarton man, with a cherry-pick gone wrong. King is limited as you'd typically expect being from where he's from, but he is a big and strong welter - and Harkin is quite delicate, susceptible to being hurt to both head and body and from light hitters to boot.
Harkin fought late sub Vitalii Maksymiv of the Ukraine instead, and knocked him out in 3 rounds. This content is protected
