Sturm would start as underdog against only 2 middleweights IMO. GGG obviously, and a full healthy Sergio (subject to Martinez injuries having healed and the effects of father time). Other than those two a fully focussed Felix still beats em all IMO.
so since the reign of Bernard Hopkins, sturm's greatest win to date is martin murray. I rest my case :good
...and of course Zbik...Barker...De la Hoya...Sylvester...etc etc .be quicker for you to just read Boxrec HMB!
Look , I feel your pain, I really do. I grew up in the era of US domination in world boxing. You ll just have to accept that things have changed and moved on. Its a big world out here you know - and its caught up with you and left you guys behind. Nowadays guys from places most yanks couldnt find on a map wipe the floor with Americas finest. Felix is one of those guys. You can choose to bury your head in the sand if you want...
if felix is "one of those guys", then i'm your guy to debate with I really don't care who the legit champion is in each weight division, or where they come from, but you must have ties to Germany to think he's anything other than a joke in international boxing
I some what reluctantly rate Sturm #3 based on accomplishments. He's had some impressive/clear victories over top 15 MW's Griffin#2, Sylvester, and Zbik. Then he's a had some nip-tuck affairs that could've went either way with Gevor, Mackliln, Geale, Soliman, & Murray, but on paper only losing one of those fights. The Barker fight could've just as easily been declared a NC far as I'm concerned. And that's within the past 6 years, a period that's longer than anyone else in the top 10 at MW was even in the top 30 at MW. And I say reluctantly because I've never been thrilled with his fights. If he had a level higher of activity all those fights that were previously nip-tuck, would've been clear UD's in his favor.
but don't you think sturm being mentioned in the mix now has more to do with a poor division? he's never fought a top fighter at MW period
