Murray travelling all the way to Australia to fight Garth Wood a 35 year old Australian who has had only 16 fights and been beaten 3 times,I realise Martin needs keep busy fights and he is being restricted from travelling to the United states but surely his promotors have to get the finger out and deliver him a decent fight,he's the best middle weight in the country imo.
He can travel to the USA now it's just his **** promoters can't be arsed managing him properly. They're ****ing with his career. He could easily have got the Geale fight if they weren't complete useless bellends. He could have had Kid Chocolate in St Helens as well. I don't understand what the **** they're doing. Why can't they get him on bills in St Helens, he's a proven ticket seller. He could easily be maneuvered into a title shot. A trained ****** could have got him Sturm in Germany and Martinez in Argentina. He was a lamb to slaughter, how about doing a Hearn and getting him something where he has a slight ****ing chance.
Garth Woods is absolutely awful. I worked on The Australian Contender which he won and got him the shot against Anthony Mundine and he was so far from deserving that. He fouled and wrestled his way to winning it and only got the decisions because the better boxers in it were Russian (Oganov) and African (Kariuki) who they'd have struggled to sell as an opponent. It was awful. Murray will get a decent pay packet for this, so fair enough, but the way Woods boxes it's an injury waiting to happen.
Martin Murray is without doubt one of the best middleweights in the world. He was absolutely burgled in Argentina, and he probably should've gotten the verdict against Sturm in Germany. Richard Poxon (Hatton Promotions matchmaker) has been described as an idiot by Golden Boy CEO, Richard Schaefer, after turning down a world title shot against Peter Quillin in the UK. He is gradually ruining Murray's career. For him to send Murray to the other side of the world to box an unknown guy is an insult!
Stupid and nonsensicle fight to take.Get off the bong at Hatton Promotions and get on the ball. Focus boys.:nut
Re: Garth Wood v Martin Murray? This seems a real case of "Beggars cant be choosers" on Murrays part. He could end up regretting it. A dominant win and people will say "Big Deal". Anything less than a dominant win/early stoppage and his stock will drop. Every round that Woods hangs in there Murrays reputation drops a notch...and if Wood should win some rounds or make Murray look bad it drops even more. Remember that Murray is not the most versatile boxer. He has a very straightforward approach..either it works or it doesnt. Woods is not much of a boxer, but he is a very awkward, messy, negative spoiler and he could just be the wrong opponent for Murray to look good against.
Can't get a visa in the US. This is a WBA belt mandatory, he doesn't fight he loses a chance with Golovkin next year.
Stevie.......even your namesake Stevie Wonder could see that both Sergio and Felix beat Murray ....Sturm clearly by a solid margin. Murray's promotion and management are not ruining his career gradually as you say.....they are doing it quite RAPIDLY!
Sorry that's true. Just a longer process. I read somewhere that he will have to apply up to 6 months for a 1 week stay. So the fight would have to be pre agreed at least 9 months In advance and take the chance.
You could make a case for Sturm beating Murray but no way did Sergio,if that fight was anywhere else but Argentina Martinez would have lost his title. I agree with you about his promotion 100% though they well and truly are ****ing his career up,hes not a young prospect either the guy is into his 30s now and the clock is ticking.
I watched a bit of the first Mundine fight the guy is absolutely woeful,he has a really odd looking stance and seems to lead a lot with his head.I think Murray is a much stronger fighter than Mundine though and shouldnt have much problem putting him on his backside.
He's an ex-rugby league player and I don't think he took the sport up until late, so no wonder his technique isn't great. You're right about the head - he's had issues with 'accidental' head clashes before so Murray needs to be wary of that.
yep. this is the only reason it's happening. though it is strange that Garth is so high up in the WBA rankings. very strange.
