This seems a strange match up 8 months without a fight then a fight against a relative unknown, whats the story ?
The story is he's fighting for a World Title in February. Garth Wood is just a tune up to keep busy and to get his name out to the southern hemisphere. There's much rumours about him fighting GGG..........
I see , i just read its for the interim WBA title , makes you wonder how Wood managed to pull that one off ?
It's great for both fighters I think. Wood gets a great opportunity and Murray gets to travel to the other side of the world (as you know he has had major visa issues in the US) and get some coverage, nice weather and a (hopefully) easy fight!
Said this before, but the last person I'd choose for a warm up fight would be Garth Wood. He's so raw, he's dangerous. This fight is an injury waiting to happen and just before you've potentially got a payday and world title shot with GGG, that's crazy.
Wood gets away with murder in the ring in Australia, he would get disqualified anywhere else in the world. Wood will wrestle constantly also a lot of holding and hitting, throws, head butts & elbows, he is an absolute grub he can't box at all.
Hatton should be protecting his fighter not exposing him to a potential horror show.Hatton is no promoter and doesn't have the smarts or resources or tv backing to make him a major player in this business.
Don't forget the most important thing that Hatton, in fairness to him, is lacking as a promoter, perhaps the most important thing: A star quality fighter.
