Cotto is more skilled, but I doubt his skill is good enough to compensate for the 5 inch height disadvantage and 20lb weight difference. Murray is huge, and he boxes well behind a jab. Cotto will struggle to get past it, and then feel the size of Murray in the clinches.
Given Cotto has always had stamina issues I can't see him doing well against a guy so much bigger than him.

The problem with that theory is that Murray is just a solid all rounder. He doesn't pressure like a Margarito or he doesn't really make the size count to the extent where it would make up for the skill difference. He would shell up when Cotto throws his combos and when he comes forward Cottos movement would give him fits. I fancy Cotto in that fight.

I disagree. He didn't pressure Golovkin, but he was all over Sturm like a rash. Sturm did the cleaner work, and landed the heavier shots, but Murray smothered him with volume.

i like this fight. is exactly the kind of fight that would prove where exactly is cotto right now. i see both men winning

murray is just bigger, but not necessarily better

what i can't understand is how martinez was a cripple vs cotto but not vs murray, both fights were after the knee issues and in both fights martinez looked like ****t.

cotto did the better job of the two

he did but the assumption is Martinez's health issues were degenerative, based on how he looked in the ring vs each and how medical issues like that generally go.

and that assumption is product of many people that just cannot accept that sergio got cought with a bomb early. And there was a hard body shot that the angle of the camera blocked the view and nobody saw until the replay. That was before the second knockdown i believe but since he fell ackwardly and didn't have any legs, lets ignore those two big shots and blame it on the knee.

sergio himself said he was cought cold

you may be right with your statement but those two shots cannot be dismissed

I know size and toughness isn't everything, but Murray would be too tough and big for Cotto.

    Here is Cotto with Froch.

Murray and Froch are the same size almost exactly.

    Murray also has underrated skills.

It would be a good fight but Murray would pull away in the second half IMO and probably stop Cotto.

It depends how much Murray left in the GGG fight. IF he is 80% he will beat Cotto in a similar way Trout did. I still can't understand why Cotto fought Trout but he is definitely not a fraud as someone suggested .
