atsch where is that guys head, power was a well deserved prospect from not that long ago. and gave munyai some stiff resistance.
i think munyai took life out of him. i believe power needs new trainer to change things up looks stale but i personally don't think he was ever that great in first place. british level max which is no bad thing but he needs change which might come after tonight but davies deserves all credit.
I was a little disappointed with the stoppage(well more than a little at the time), it looked really early to me and I feel for Power a little. However Power didn't seem to be in great shape(from his physique) and Davies clearly was, it's possible the fight would of gone that way anyway. I was more disappointed with the decisions of Usman Ahmed 40-39 over Luke Wilton and Carl Chiverton 38-38 Willie Thompson(including a point deduction from Thompson), on both occasions I felt the Belfast man should have gotten the win. I had Wilton beating Ahmed 39-37, and although the rounds were close, to give 3 even rounds and 1 for Wilton is just a little odd, and unfair on Wilton.
arrogantly to power "hows that hows that"? :-( mixed bag about him. showed very solid punching and some decnet moves but i think he caught power coming in and barely sealed the job.
to mandanda yeah prospect means alot of things either a good fighter or a world classer....when i said prospect i kinda meant he looked about euro level, with a possible title tilt later on. head a solid defence and a great offence gave ian napa, which forget the record is prolly the most skilled and talented of the bantamwieght domestic, power gave him a very stiff argument. used a high guard and used an effective jab. and yeah he got beat severly by munyai but lets not forget munyai was/is a beast. i think most bantams seemed to shy away from munyai at the time power got disposed of. munyai was in a different class of his own at the time. maybe only a year and a bit but he was a fierce challenger. i remember a thread about how he was the best fighter in the uk (not british...just fighting in the uk) most agreed. to big ears yeah the stoppage was a bit of a yes or no. power was takiong some heavy shots and his head was getting visably punched around, but he wasnt (to my knowledge) hurt just caught with 3 good shots at different moments was in a corner...he was fighting back for god sake. so yeah it wasnt a clear cut decision but still. he was given alot of time from the ref.
Very good stoppage for me. He was done and would have beaten badly. Maybe Davies should have been been left to unload onto Powers face for another 20 seconds but the ref saw the end was very close and did Power a huge favour.
I just liked his attitude and the intensity he fought with... Don't get me wrong... Future contender as in British title ... not world class but he looked very good.... reminded me a bit of the likes of Craig Spacie, Jason Dee, Wayne Rigby... that kind of rugged solidness doesn't always transfer beyond British class but you can gurantee any title shot is going to be exciting. Lets remember Davies got stopped by Steve Gethin on his debut....... Now he's just beaten the guy who was British champion at the time.... Thats pretty impressive by any standards.
yeah i agree i watched munyai in flesh vs haskins he's absolutley huge at the weight but he being managed very strangly fighting at featherweight when he so good @ batamweight and having world rankings there. i still feel morning after fight power needs change. he looks like his career has stalled. maybe he not learning anything with tko gym anymore which can happen to fighters.
wasnt really stopped to be honest because they had to end the fight asap because ricky hatton was waitibg ti come out and the ref just stopped the fight as soon as sum 1 landed. i dont think theres a harder puncher at bantam or superbantam than davis to be honest
