Do you think they have what it takes to make a trilogy? Maybe even a fourth fight AZZuming Martinez loses the 2nd, wins the 3rd, but both were extremely competitive.

I see Williams fighting smarter in the rematch and beating Martinez in a highly competitive bout. Then there will be demand for a 3rd.

I'd love it. Wars, wars, wars. PWill is my favorite fighter though, and his style isn't exactly play-it-safe. I want him to be able to enjoy his family and retirement, so maybe 3 or 4 fights is pushing it, health-wise, against a beast like Martinez.

    A rematch is NEEDED, though.

Usually when a fighter is up 2-0 on a rival there isn't a third meeting.

A trilogy comes when they split the first two and they need a rubbermatch to break the tie.

Officially, Williams won the first time. So Martinez would need to win the rematch for it to become a trilogy.

i could see a demand for a 3rd fight if Martinez gets a draw or loses by SD or some **** in the rematch since many including myself felt he won the first fight.

for the record i think Martinez will Decisively beat Pdub in the rematch leaving no reason for a rubber match

If that was the case there'd be demand for a rubbermatch between Mijares and Cermeno since most feel that both were pretty close (and that the scoring was a bit iffy in at least one). Unfortunately it's not how the sport generally works.

If you're officially 0-2 against a guy, good luck landing him back in the ring again.

well you could also ask why is Marquez v Vasquez IV happening? Its not common in modern boxing but i'm sure it used to happen more often then today.

Well Marquez at least has one win there. You're right though, usually once a tie is broken that's it. Marquez-Vazquez IV is basically just happening because we're all addicted to watching the two of them go at it. :yep

The last guy that fought good against Williams, like did Martinez got ko'd in the rematch,Williams sat down on his punches and kind of reminded me of Hearns,he took it personal showed real power,i think the rematch would be the same way,Williams will ko Martinez in the rematch, and it wont be a triliogy.

There are a score of differences between the Williams-Quintana dynamic and the Williams-Martinez dynamic.

After seeing Martinez **** on pavlik the same way I invisioned Williams doing and making a razor thin of the first fight the middle weight division has got my attention in way that hasn't been since bhop- Trinidad. A trilogy could revitalize the division and put needed attention on the young guns aiming for the top dogs. Don't forget pavlik. He's not done either.

:patschThe only thing that is similar abut Quintana and Williams is that they are southpaw boxers.
