He told cotto we could fight and i would give up my purse if u win. he did not specify at what weight it would be. martinez has said in the past that he can make 154 with no problem. cotto said he'll think about it.

Cotto will take this fight if it makes sense. Truthfully right now he has other fighters that will bring more money. It sucks but then again these fighters have families and after retirement they need every cent possible.

Cotto said he'd be interested but if the deal was good, because at a certain point, boxing stops becoming a hobby and a passion and starts becoming a business. He's ducked not a single fighter over his whole career, so wanting to end with solid pay days should be more than allowed from a fans perspective, IMO.

Yeah. Getting old. Considering his ring weight for some of his fights it would be risky for a promoter to take him up even if they are interested until Martinez takes a fight at 154 and proves he can still make the weight AND be effective. Hell, I'd even go with a ring weight limit. Weigh ins should be day of the fight anyhow.

He should win a belt at 154 so he can be immediately stripped again.

I don't care about the orgs. Any promoter should have serious concerns about the weight at this point. Too much money at stake to have him show up over the limit, make the limit and be drained or show up 20 pounds heavier than his opponent on fight night. Cotto is still a WW fighting at SWW. Even if he makes the weight he will have a size advantage over Cotto on fight night.
