As much as I'm not a big fan of Chavez Sr. I don't dislike Jr. He has gotten A LOT of hate for simply coming up "too easy" as a lot of people say. He didn't have an amateur career and based off that is A LOT. While I still think Martinez is far better. Chavez should give him fits in places but overall lose. I think Jr has the skills and dedication to become great. Only time will tell.

I can't stand Sr and the praise he gets, but Jr has earned a lot for being in the shadow of his father.

Faitelson: Julio, how are you, good? I see you’re very relaxed.

Chavez: Good, good, thanks to God. Satisfied with the work my son is doing. Fortunately, thanks to God, things are going perfectly well. He’s training as he should, for a fight as important as this one. We know that it’s definitely going to be a difficult fight, a hard fight, complicated; but I think that Julio has all the tools that a fighter should have for this fight. For this fight, I’ll say, because Sergio Maravilla is a great fighter, a fighter who moves a lot, an elusive fighter, an uncomfortable one, but the advantage(s) that Julio has which will make the difference are these 3: Julio is much taller than Martinez, he’s stronger than Martinez, and he’s a lot younger than Martinez. So I think those are the advantages that Julio has, apart from his capacity to be competitive which he’s demonstrated in the ring. He leaves everything in the ring. Martinez is a fighter who’s not used to being hit, a fighter who’s used to just fighting his fight. September 15th, he doesn’t know what he’s in for.

Faitelson: Will we see the best version of Julio Cesar Chavez in history? Will we see a fighter truly different from the one we’ve seen up to know, developing his aptitudes even further?

Chavez: Definitely, it has to be that way Faitelson. Julio wouldn’t be able to win the fight any other way. I think that people are mistaken when they think that Julio is a fighter that only knows how to attack, only knows how to come forward, no; Julio definitely also knows how to box, and you don’t just beat Martinez by attacking him. We have a very good strategy, and September 15th, Martinez won’t be expecting it. He’s expecting to see Julio as he’s seen him in all of his fights, and that’s going to be the large difference in the fight Faitelson.

Faitelson: Adriana, Rafael , Julio Cesar Chavez hears you here in Las Vegas.

Adriana: Yes, Julio, you were also very close to the preparation of Julito, for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., for Andy Lee, and it’s been one of the changes that we saw in your son’s career, because one could see he was very physical and he had a very good preparation for that fight. What’s the difference between the preparation he had against Andy Lee, and the one he’s having for Maravilla Martinez?

Chavez: Well, look Adriana; definitely, every fighter trains differently; they have different strategies. Andy Lee was a fighter who stood up straighter, was more static, much taller, so there was a strategy where Julio definitely had to attack, that was the plan that he had and it gave really good results for him. Now with Martinez, I think that, well I’m not going to tell you the strategy because you’ll go to Martinez (laughs, they joke about spilling secrets). But the 15th of September we’re going to shut his mouth. But Adriana, I truly believe he’s gone through a great preparation, a strategic preparation, but definitely to win against Martinez, we have to attack him, we have to block his exits, but here, the difference in this fight will be that we have to see a completely different Julio than the one we saw with Andy Lee. With Andy Lee, he had problems with legs. From the waist up, he was very strong, and luckily that proved the difference. But for this fight, he’ll have strength in his legs and hand-speed.

Faitelson: Julio, I’ve seen you in many fights here in Las Vegas full of passion, fights against Puerto Ricans, fights against US fighters, and I’ve never heard of a boxer complain of death threats. Maravilla Martinez also talks of how someone vandalized his car. Do you think that’s a reality, and what do you think about that?

Chavez: Who said that (laughs a bit)? I didn’t know about that.

Faitelson: They say it came last night. He cancelled his public workout because he fears for his physical integrity. Well, they messed up his car, let’s not exaggerate Rafael (who was chiming in that they claimed his house was also vandalized), they messed up his car. And on social networks-I also receive death threats on twitter every 3 days, that’s what happens-someone likely said something to him. What do you think?

Chavez: Well I truly don’t know if he’s exaggerating, but I think…well it wasn’t us (laughs). I don’t know, it could be a strategy of his so as to not show his training in public, or it could be true, because there are likely lots of Mexicans sick of all the **** he’s talked, with all due respect, with all the garbage he’s talked. But I definitely don’t think he should worry about that because I doubt anybody will do anything to him. The only one who’s going to hit him and hurt him is going to be my son in the ring on September 15th.

(Adriana introduces Martinez’s response to vandalism):

Martinez (on video): When situations become truly tense and difficult, I find myself, as we’d say in Argentina, “en mi salsa” (doing my thing, comfortable, in my world, etc.), it’s when my motivation and my adrenaline also spikes. Today for example was my best day in training yet, because I find myself focused like never before.

Chavez: The truth is I find what he says ridiculous. It seems to have no base to it; I guess let’s have someone set a bomb for him so that he trains even better, if he trains so much better with pressure. So what’s he complaining about?

Faitelson: I think the important thing here Julio is that this is a boxing match. It’s a sporting event. It has nothing to do with nationality, being from Argentina, or being from Mexico. You’ve fought against Puerto Ricans, against Hector Camacho in a fight full of passion, of emotion, and I never saw a death threat made on either one.

Chavez: No, the truth is I don’t think that (the threat) exists, with all due respect. Sincerely, those are jokes exist in boxing. If there are issues between fans, fans against Julio or fans against Martinez, they can say lots of nasty things, but that’s because of the euphoria of boxing. But the truth is that if it’s for real, then that’s not right. I ask all the people that they don’t do that, that all that euphoria and anger they may have towards Martinez, that they let it out on the day of the fight screaming “Chavez, Chavez, Chavez, Chavez”.

It's all about GGG. Roy was right... he is the truth. GGG fights all-comers from 154 - 168. What a humble guy as well.
