If Chavez Jr. gets another shot at Martinez, he will have a good chance tp knock him out, and at the very least make it a close fight. Which is the exact reason, I do not want to see this happen, anytime soon that is. For the time being both should branch off and fight some other opponents. First off, I want to see Sergio drop to 154. and fight Mayweather, maybe a fight with Canelo before hand to get him used to 154 again and to make sure he handles the weight loss ok. I think even if he is somehow weight drained, though I doubt it since he is a small MW that he will absolutely school Canelo. Then once the Sergio Mayweather fight happens, he can move back up and fight Geale then the winner of Golovkin vs. Chavez Jr if we can get this fight to happen and perhaps throw Pirog into the mix. Now, I'm not saying Chavez for certain that Chavez will KO him, but I think he would have a much better chance, not only for the KO, but for a more competitive match. Knowing that he can get close(like he did multiple times, though he did not capitalize) and knowing he can hurt Martinez, Chavez will come in with a higher work rate, and attack the body much for often. Either way, the MW division is about to get really exciting,
I disagree, he would definitely up his work rate, and steal some rounds. If it went to the cards, I expect it to be 7-5 or 8-4 for Martinez, and with that work rate a little higher, his chances of KO are higher.
If the fight happens in Texas, Martinez could be in a heap of trouble. If Lawrence Cole had been the ref in the last fight he would have called it after Martinez got hurt in the 12th. Also if it's in Texas, they might as well not even have a weigh-in, Chavez will enter the ring near 200lb regardless. Funny how a guy who couldn't knock down John Duddy or Sebastian Zbik, suddenly can clubber the lights out of more studdier fighters.
Martinez would batter him even harder if they rematch. Even if Chavez could take the punishment without dropping, it would likely get stopped by cuts/closed eyes.
What did Chavez show you last night that makes u think he can make the fight that close? ONE knockdown in the 12th? Julio was lost in there man
The fact that every time he let his hands go he was connecting. Thus when he ups his work rate, which he will do if they fight again, he connects more, now this will leave him prone to fatigue and getting hit more, but like I said if it goes to the cards, it would be much closer this time around, not enough to win, but to make it close and increase his chance for a KO.
If the bs rematch happens i see martinez beating chavez even worse. Remember in the first williams vs martinez first fight? Williams barely won in an exciting brawl but in the rematch martinez knock williamd the f4ck out. I'm saying martinez will do the same to chavez jr but it just shows martinez fights better in rematch.
What would make you think Martinez would stop him? He couldn't stop dude last night and Junior was shitty, assuming he was better prepared and improved upon one of his worst efforts, how would that equate to him being stopped?
Probably but he's not showing up to win a decision...no doubt he could up the pressure and make the fight interesting late, which is his only real formula for winning anyway.
Yeah, your right, though I wanted Martinez to win, expected him to win, and expect him to win again. If you don't think JCC Jr. has a good shot at a KO and close fight if he came in with a high work rate and consistently attacked the body you are nothing, but a dickrider. Which you clearly are.
