Martinez does not want to fight Hopkins, and for good reasons.

Hopkins would take away his best punch which is the left hand, and Martinez would very quickly look like a one handed fighter.

:patsch Umm because Martinez is way too small to fight at lightheavyweight.

It's funny how many styles Hopkins is a nightmare for.

How do you see a Hopkins vs. Martinez prime for prime fight?

And/or a CW fight at this moment, say 166lbs.

Prime for Prime? Prime Hopkins was at middleweight in which imo i think he beat Martinez in a very close fight. At over 160 pounds, i got hopkins by an easy win cause he would not only be bigger but far too stronger.

Well forget about the weight for a second.

If they were the same size, I completely agree with this. Bernard would tie up Sergio and rough him up close. Whenever he throws a flurry, B Hop wouldn't stand there like a lot of Sergio's past opponents have done.
Bernard wouldn't give him much countering opportunities.

But yes Bernard is too big for Sergio but think about this.

Sergio wants a 150 pound Floyd to fight at 154
Bernard wants a 165 Sergio to fight at 170. It really isn't much different. Plus Sergio was 170+ pounds for his fight in March. I can tell he's be trying to cut weight gradually to fight Floyd, but he really could fight Bernard if he wanted

    GREAT POINTS.

Martinez seems so hungry for $5m+ paydays in Manny and Floyd, I think if Floyd manages to trick him into 150lbs, he'll not only dominate, but STOP Martinez.

Martinez would never present trouble for a prime B-Hop. Hell Prime JT would KO Martinez and prime Pavlik would beat him on points.

Martinez is simply not a good MW.

Hopkins is about 20lbs bigger than him, no wonder he doesn't want to fight.

I like Martinez, he's without question P4P material.

I know its popular making a fighter out to be the best/worst based on his last performance, thus you see good fighters called bums/elite ATG's overnight here, OFTEN.

BUT, Martinez has had styles thrown at him which suited him perfectly, taller fighters walking onto his big left hand in particular, and they'd stay after throwing their own shots, so he could tee off on them.

Now, you throw in a thinking fighter, all of a sudden he looks ordinary.

There is a big difference...In one fight he has the advantages in size and the other fight he doesnt. Common sense would say aim for the smaller fighter. Its really simple...

Sergio Martinez is a ****ing joke, he can call out little men but won't try to fight bigger ones.
