Whether it's JCC Jr or Mayweather...When Mosley was on top P4P he didn't want to give Floyd the fight...when he had taken losses and lost appeal then the Mayweather fight was important...Martinez does did not want to fight Pirog or Geale, even Kid Chocolate...these guys want to fight him...no comments...people from higher weights call him out (Ward & Dirrell) but his fans & team say no he's to small...BS...War JCC Jr

I see through you...but I like your style though buddy...

He is getting old and the big payday hasn't came his whole career, to be honest I think he deserves it.

He should make 3-4 million dollars against Chavez Jr. Probably about double of what he's been making for free-per-view HBO, which is 1.5 million per.

Chavez is definitely getting the lion's share here, since he's the guy who puts 20k asses in seats, but since Martinez is the best MW in the world, he'll probably be getting 40% (normally a guy with his fan base would get 25, maybe even 20 against Chavez.)

Let's do the math here. Estimate it does 450k buys @ 60 a pop (assume they all buy in HD). I think it will be 50/60$ price. So, that's a total revenue of $27 million. Take out about 7$ million for expenses (this is just an estimate). Sergio's (team) gets 40% of 20 million = 8 million. Then assuming his promotor gets the standard 27% cut = 2,160,000. Then his manager gets his 10% that's 800k. So let's just say around 3$ million; 8 million - 3 million = 5 million.

Sergio should gross about $5 million dollars assuming he's getting 40%, and the fight does 450k buys (maybe a bit generous, but still very realistic). Take out taxes, and trainer fees, he'll be left with about 2.5-3 million.

Not Mayweather, or Pacquiao money, but more than 99.9% of all professional boxers will make in their entire careers in one night.

Yet Mosley fought Wright and Forrest and took loseeses yet he was some how scared of losing to Floyd i cant see it ? You sound like another victim of the Mayweeather propoganda machine. I respect Floyd as a fighter but he is full of **** and hasdnt exactly chosen the hardest path since the Corrales fight. It is Top Rank and Chavez who have waited til Martinez is older to take the fight not the other way round.

I agree calling out floyd and pac whilst not being willing to take on the 168lbers is a bad look. All those other fighters in 160lb class who want to fight him as much i would love too see those fights arent gonig to provide Martinez with the payday he craves

Not a good comparison. Mosley's resume is freaking stellar. He'd had big fights had been on top more than once nd had several bites at the apple. And started young.

This is Martinez's biggest and best shot at a big nut. He's nearing the end. If he loses, what's there for him? If he wins what's there for him?

That Roy Jones Jr knock off ambush fighting style won't help Martinez against Mayweather either...

I think that would be a fascinating tactical fight. I'd be interested in seeing that chess match.

Agreed. The only way to beat Martinez conclusively (other then KO) is to have a good start and stay ahead on the cards either by high workrate, boxing on the backfoot & dancing from the outside...or getting K'D's...then you have to survive the latter part of the fight...not getting Ko'd.

if martinez wins, where can he go? alvarez? dont be stupid gbp wont let them near each other untill martinez is past 40, cotto? miguel has already said there is no money in martinez. say martinez wins and has a defence of 500k ppv, just say he does, maybe he could fight cotto mid to late next year, mayweather and pac wont fight him, even at 154. hes too good and has too little pay off. kind of like fighting paul williams 5-7 years ago.

The difference is Martinez would go down to 154 lbs to fight Floyd where Floyd currently fights at, he even offered to fight Manny at 150 lbs where he fought Margarito. Would Ward or any other top 168 lbs fighter go down to 160 lbs to make the fight happen?

Also Martinez weighed 164 lbs against Barker same weight Ortiz was against Floyd. Margarito was around about the same against Pacquaio.

I know mayweather would have to step up his punch-rate,because martinez won't be afraid to let them hands go.

Once Sergio hit one of Mayweather's sharp ass elbows used to catch one of his punches, Sergio would rethink letting htem hands fly.

Or, once he got pull-countered cleanly across the mug, or a nice, short right uppercut shoveled straight to his liver after throwing a 1-2, he'd reconsider how much he wants to let his hands go :yep
