I have been a fan for many years, and really hoped that a Martinez-Mayweather fight could be made. I always thought that Martinez would have very good possibilities of winning that fight.

When some money people lured Martinez to MW I'm sure Mayweather and the money men around him were happy. In reality Martinez is far too small for MW.

Anyway, I still hoped the fight could be made at 147 or 154 or in between as Sergio said he could easily make that weight.

However, in the last couple of fights Martinez has showed clearly that he is over the hill. I knew he would try to come up with a last peak fight against Chavez, and he really tried his utmost. However, that effort would not be enough to beat Floyd.

Sergio had some years where I think he might have beaten Floyd, but now I give him a very minor chance if they meet. He is old and his style is very physical and relies on speed and reflexes and suffers with age. He has done well, and with a little bit more luck and perhaps a US passport to help the luck, he perhaps could have been P4P no .1.

Mayweather is more removed from his prime than Martinez imo. Martinez would knock him out imo if they fought now. Which is why Floyd won't fight him.

as much as i dont care for Martinez and especially Mayweather, the latter would have had no/no problem with Martinez...

Martinez has shown a general decline in all the most important aspects of his game. Things that before came naturally and fluidly are now forced and when he still has some speed it comes in a premeditated and forced way not like before where it was just a natural reflexes etc.

Mayweather has only really shown some decline in his foot speed. This is not perfect, but also not crucial to Floyd because he can fight in the inside as well. A young fluid Martinez might be able to exploit a decline in foot speed, but not this version of Martinez.

For all but one round Martinez was very impressive last start. Still a very talented fighter.

Martinez beats a guy like Chavez in his sleep. Even this old Martinez still has so much speed advantage that he will still win.

May is much faster and technically better and it is a different thing all together.

No question there. But I also wonder how much longer it will be before we see deterioration in Mayweather? Nobody lasts for ever, and for some the fall is rapid, unexpected and not dependent on age.

Imo his foot speed already suffers. He will also start showing in other areas soon I think.

But he is so technically founded that I think he can keep fighting for long and still be effective - almost like a Hopkins.

Mayweather was unimpressive against Cotto and showed clear deterioration in my view.

Too many people wanked on about how good Cotto supposedly was, and this obscured the deterioration in Mayweather.

martinez aint done for ****, your saying that cause of the 12 round, come onn, but i do feel mayweather is to small for Martinez, just like pac is.

if mayweather beats martinez, then martinez is to old, out of his prime etc.

if mayweather was to lose...which is a posibility against the quick middleweight champion of the world...then his lost to a 38 year old.

i just dont see team mayweather taking this fight with an unbeaten record.

I really don't believe he is a legitimate threat to Mayweather below 160lbs...he has a big mouth so now I want this fight...Floyd please shut this man up....

I honestly believe Martinez gave it his all against Chavez Jr. I don't think Martinez be healthy enough for Floyd.
